I need some help in a bad way. I just got my Fanatec GT3 RS V2 and Clubsports today and cannot get them to work in GT5. The quick guide and the downloadable manual are of very little help. I got the drivers installed on my PC and everything seems to be fine on there, at least in the drivers/setup utility. The problem is, when I hook them to my PS3 I can navigate the menus just fine, but if I try to go on track I have no steering, throttle, or brakes. I've tried setting them to controller 1 and 2, tried powering them off/on and going back into PS3 mode, still nothing.

I'm needing to get this working asap, I have an online series race tomorrow night and will probably have to miss it rather than trying to dismount the Fanatecs and reinstall my old stuff.

Any help will be appreciated, I tried searching, both here and Google, but only found instructions on how to enable PS3 mode. I believe it's in that mode since I can navigate menus.

Couple of things you could check:
USB port 1 used for the wheel?
Wheel powered on before or after the PS3 starts?
Wheel set to Controller 1?
Use PS3 mode.
Plugged in other USB devices that might conflict.

Don't have a Fanatec wheel yet but just some ideas anyhow.

I got a GT3 RS V2 this monday and I just plugged it in the PS3 and it worked. I guess this is the way it should work. So if you really can't find it out, contact Fanatec (but you probably already know that).

I've tried all that and a couple other combinations of things. Wheel is going into PS3 mode because it won't work in menus until I put it in that mode, it just doesn't work in race.

I was extremely leery about going with Fanatec, but hoped they had maybe gotten their quality control in hand, guess not. Stuff sure looks good, just wish I could race with it.

Are you using a USB hub maybe? If so try removing that and plugging it in directly.

Reset the wheel?

Press and hold the tuning button on the LCD screen for 5 seconds until you see 'rst' on the display. It could be the PS3 that's not working properly if everything's OK on PC.

I dunno after this. Hopefully someone else here can help, or maybe Thomas when he gets up and sees this thread.

I've tried resetting, different usb cable, everything I can think of. I was using a usb hub and have since I got the new PS3, I removed it and took out my usb stick I use for saves and had nothing plugged in except the Fanatec. It's very strange, it works perfectly in menus, but once I start a race or practice session and the car leaves the pits I have nothing, no steering, no throttle or brakes; if I depress the throttle all the way I can feel a little force feedback in the wheel, but that is it.

I unhooked everything and plugged the wheel into my PC and everything works fine in F1 2011 and rfactor. I have 2 logitechs here and both of them work fine in the PS3. (It's a 2 month old slim PS3). I saw on the Fanatec support forums where another guy had the exact same problem, he just tried another usb cable and everything worked. (I've tried 3 different ones with no such success.) :ouch:

That's very strange. I had something weird with my T500 RS a while back too. Plugged in directly in port 1 or 2 (of the 4 my old 60GB fat ps3 has) and it mixed up the shifters and some buttons not working and so on.
Completely switching of the power of everything including the wheel, booting the ps3 then plugging the wheel back in and starting the game fixed it. It was a weird hiccup on the side of GT5 I think.

Are you using an adapter plug for the wheels power cable? I recall someone changing that and weird stuff he experienced was gone. Could be wrong though. =/

It sucks having a wheel and not being able to use it. :(

After a lot of trial and error, I believe it's just not going into PS3 mode. I thought that it was since it worked in all the menus and in the XMB, but I found that it does that even when you don't push the base and back buttons. I can just turn it on, let it calibrate and it works everything but in a race.

Can anyone with a Fanatec confirm that they work in the menus without being in PS3 mode? I'm convinced that is the problem, unless someone else says theirs won't work in menus without being in PS3 mode. Of course, that doesn't solve my problem. It's great on the PC, but I didn't just buy it for use with the PC.

Edit: It works!!!

I was right, it wasn't in PS3 mode. I was pushing the wrong buttons. The manual says to push the base and back button, but you actually have to push the base and select button. I found an old thread on this forum that had a pic of the correct buttons. I feel pretty dumb, but honestly, the manual is pretty screwed up in some areas.

Glad it worked. I should have mentioned that the red led should light up in the display if ps3 mode is on :dunce:

Enjoy the wheel. I hope it's to your liking. ;)

Congrats on making it work.👍

I should have mentioned it as well, but I was a bit tired when posting. I just pushed some random buttons + base button until I saw a red light. Sorry for not telling you that.
Enjoy your wheel, I upgraded from a G27 and I was very impressed. I hope you will be as well.:)

my gt3 rs v2 wheels red light stays on? Just reset everything but still power up and ps3 mode or the light is on?

just before this happened ps3 froze whilst online so reset and boom wheel not working?
