Help with intermediate Elise 111R Top gear test Track event.

As the title says, best i've managed to place is 7th, that car is all over the place and uncontrollable with a DS3, especially when braking (even light braking) on corners.

Any suggestions for set up is appreciated,

Thanks.

PS, i've golded the samba bus and kobbelwagon...or whatever its called.

Check on youtube for a video ... I just turned the aids on for that event and had done with, I wasn't in the mood for top gear special events that day though after getting second without aids after all those attempts :P

brake with a little bit of throttle just to help with stability, maybe keep the brake bias below 7 front and rear aswell?

Brake Bias? there's no access to car set up on this event, aids only.

Any suggestions for aids set up?

thanks.

It's very different from both samba and kubel. Totally. What you need here is super braking skills, first if you dont have braking/accel on r2/l2 set it there, train yourself to input very little braking power, then do that on every corner.
You make 90% of the race in the first 3-5 corners. But again remember to brake very lightly so you dont move the car too much. Try to do your own abs and stick to the inside on every big turns.

I'm using the standard DS3 set up because i got used to proportional application on the X and square. I had figured it out on DS2, once i had figured out and learned how to apply just the right force on the buttons the game became ahell of allot more easy...anyways, my question is, is it that much of a difference?

yep, all ready did that with GT4 and DS2 👍

couldn't agree more.

And thanks for the tips, any suggestions on aid set-up?

I would recommend the exact opposite. Hit the brakes very hard to overtake 3-4 cars on one corner. Specially in the Follow Through section.

Brake Bias? there's no access to car set up on this event, aids only.

In the controller setup menu, you could try assigning some controls to the driver aids menu. This will give you access to change the Brake Bias settings in-game.

When you start the event, lower the rear Brake Bias (iirc, I used Front=5, Rear=2) - this really helped me.

Now 'Restart' the challenge without exiting. These brake settings (and the other driver aid settings) will be remembered leaving you to focus on the challenge itself.

AH!

i wasnt aware you could do that via the controller set up.

Thanks mate:tup:

I think I've put higher abs value that usual for this one like to 3, I'm not sure anymore if I used TCS or not, I dont usually but I think I might have use it for this race. If I did it was not higher than 3. I've followed a friend advice actually for this one.

Oh and braking hard with me only had one result = rear gone = restart.

Again it's me, what's working for me may not works for other.

Brake late, but not too hard and control your acceleration through some of the deeper corners. The less your tires squeal the better off you are. Although that one left angle turn I was power sliding through it and that seemed to help more than trying to maintain maximum grip.

At first it was a frustrating event but then (with the help of aids as others have said) once I figured out how much bump-and-run I could get away with, it was actually pretty fun.

May you please elaborate when and where I activate this:
"In the controller setup menu, you could try assigning some controls to the driver aids menu"

do I access this controller setup menu on that screen where I click on the green flag to start the race? or is it in another area? Will I be allowed to set Brake Bias if I have a wheel and pedals? Can I do this for licence challenge tests? sorry for all the questions

You just go to your options menu and set up the controller for brake bias setup. You probably can set it with a wheel and you should be able to do it in any situation.

Some good tips floating about there. I like the sound of remapping the DS3 to allow driving aid changes in game.

Always struggled with this event...away to try it now :)

The Options menu is accessed from the top-level screen where you choose GT Mode, Arcade, TV, Track editor, or from the GT Mode Home page.

- From the GT Mode Home page select 'My Home Settings' > Options
- In the Options menu, scroll down to the Hardware section
- Select 'Change Button Assignments' for the controller you wish to use
- Select the control you wish to change and assign the '(RA function)...' items.

If you have two controllers I would imagine you can assign these to the second controller if you don't have enough 'free' buttons on your main controller.

I have a DFGT wheel and the RA functions are already assigned to controls on the wheel. You can reassign wheel controls from the Steering Controllers section, which is below the Hardware section.

Right... I am using a wheel for this and, well, am finding this impossible to even complete two laps never mind get the gold (and I have golded everything else so far)

I watched the video by Stune5 and I have turned on traction control to 5, skid recovery on and abs to 4 - I still cannot control this car well at speeds fast enough to overtake anyone and I cannot see any difference with skid recovery on or not...

Any further suggestions? :)

I wish I could say that there was a specific tune for mine, but after struggling with this the first time around (on my first account). I managed to gold the event on my 2nd account on my first try in stock settings. What I suggest is trying to get used to the tires on the car and if you need to, practice outside of there using a similar car to figure out its quirks.
