I put this question up in the “Permanent Borrow Glitch Trading Thread,” but no one seems to want to respond…so I will do it here in a new thread.

* Sorry for the long post, but I really do need some help!

Anyhow, I tried to glitch from my primary account on my PS3 to my alt account on the same PS3 the other night, for some practice before coming on here to get a couple of cars I am looking for.

It did not work!

This is exactly what I did.

ATTEMPT 1:

1. Went into my primary account and put up a car to borrow.
2. Saved my game.
3. Exited GT5.
4. Backed up current game SAVE FILE to a USB flash drive.
5. Logged into my alt account.
6. Started up GT5 and borrowed the car from my primary account.
7. Saved my game.
8. Quit the game to the XMB.
9. Deleted the GAME DATA (which took about 10 minutes)
10. At this point I went to Settings > Network Settings > Internet Connection and set it to disable so that the PS would not be connected to the internet.
11. Started up GT5.
12. The first screen to come up said: “Accessing game data. Please do not switch off the system while HDD access indicator is flashing.” There was only an option to select “OK.” I pressed “O” nonetheless.
13. As per usual the load screens cycled (i.e., the disclaimer, the Polyphony screen, and the epileptic seizure warning screen),

And that is it. Nothing. I let it sit for 2+ hours, and nothing.

ATTEMPT 2:

- All the same to step number 10. Except the second time I left the PS connected to the internet. So...
10. Started up GT5.
11. This time, the first screen to come up said: “The Latest data for this software has been found. To sign in and use this software, you must update the software to the latest version. The system will quit the software and start installing.”
- Version 1.13 was indicated as the latest version found (this was before version 2.0 was released, so now I assume it would say 2.0).
- Options were “X” for ok, and “O” for cancel.
- I pressed “O.”
12. The next screen had the: “Accessing game data. Please do not switch off the system while HDD access indicator is flashing.” There was only an option to select “OK.” I pressed “O.”
13. Again, the load screens cycled (the disclaimer, the Polyphony screen, and the epileptic seizure warning screen).

Again, nothing! I again let it sit for at least an hour, and nothing.

So what is going on here?

I just does not seem like you can get past the “The Latest data for this software has been found” screen without accepting it.

Is it because I am trying to glitch from my primary account to my alt account on the same PS3? I don’t think that should matter because if I borrowed a car from you, the problem is getting past the “The Latest data for this software has been found” screen.

This also does not make sense to me because, if you cannot get past the “The Latest data for this software has been found” screen, you cannot play GT5 without an internet connection. And we know that is not true. Without an internet connection you would not have updates to the latest version of software, the OCD, and online events. But you would be able to play (much like when the PS network was down earlier in the year).

If I hit the “X” button at step 11 of attempt 2, it loads the updates and the whole purpose of the glitch is nullified.

In the final analysis, I just don't see how the glitch can be done if you are forced to accept the updates?

So what is going on here, why can I not glitch? Has anyone else had this problem?

If you need anything from me, other answers as to what I did, just let me know.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers,

NOTE 1: I also noticed that when you delete your GAME DATA from one account (as I did with my alt account), you delete it for both accounts. In other words, the primary account and alt account use the same GAME DATA. Maybe that has something to do with what is happening here. However, as I noted above, it still does not explain getting past the “The Latest data for this software has been found” screen problem.

NOTE 2: The fact that both the primary account and alt account use the same GAME DATA is also important because, as I understand it, if you have a game SAVE FILE that is larger than 4165 KB, and you perform the glitch, you will lose all your cars and tickets when you start the game up after glitching (my GAME SAVE file was 4096 when I tried to glitch last night!).

Is the epilepsy warning a North American thingy?

LOL, I never thought there would be regional differences to the warnings, but maybe so. God forbid some American kid flops on the floor. The parents would surely sue Song and Polyphony.

Glitchers = 0
Karma = 1

Yea, I am not sure what that means...since no bad karma has come to me, but whatever.

I am not interested in turning this into a "glitchers" vs. "non-glitchers debate.

So unless you are contributing something helpful to the OP, make your non-helpful comments elsewhere, or start your own thread.

I would actually like to get an answer to the question.

Thanks

I had the same problem without glitching anything right after I did the 2.0 update. Try to quit and start the game again a few times that worked for me.

If that is not helping then try to start a new game without your savefile just to see if the savefile is causing the trouble. But I guess you are using two savefiles already since you are playing on 2 accounts.
