As the title says really lol,

Tho I have driven karts before, once or twice a month hanging out. But there's nothing from my experience with karts that I can really apply to setting the wheel tho. I'm aware that most of the time, it's personal preference but I'm after a general view or base line on what's realistic or not in regards to the wheel lock angle, spring effect, damper effect and should I enable centering spring? At the moment I have the wheel lock at 900, overall, spring and damper effects at 100%. Centering spring is disabled and allow games to adjust settings checked. And the in games settings are according to a sticky post by AWDwhite_2g in Shift 2.

Thanks guys

Welcome to GTPlanet!
The stock settings are usually fine. You can look online for game specific ones though.
Some people like to have a quicker ratio such as 540 degrees as it makes countersteering easier.

Are you playing on PC or ps3? Settings made on the PC won't affect the wheel on the ps3.
Personally, I like to have the damper really low (on PC) at like 3, and centering spring at about 100 I think. Force feedback I adjust ingame (the only sim my laptop can play is LFS) and the degrees I use depend on the car also, like open wheel ones I will use a lower degree setting, drifting I will use 900 and so on.

On PC, only Shift 2 ATM. Will definitely try out LFS, iRacing etc when I get the playseat. The carpet grip is useless if you use the clutch, which I do and the shifter falls off my table every time I go to second and sixth :dunce: But with the centering spring, I'm aware of what it does but I guess what I don't know is in a real car. When you're stationary and you turn the wheel and let go, does it spring back? Because with the centering spring enabled, it springs back when i'm stationary and when is disabled, it springs back a tiny bit when I turn the wheel about half a rev and let go and say when I turn the wheel a full revolution it springs back a bit more.

Thanks

It doesn't spring back when stationary in a real car I don't think, but the fact that it does in game is also down to the sim aswell as the settings, as I don't think sims try and replicate stationary driving. Having never raced a car before I can't comment on how it's supposed to feel when driving, I just have it how it feels the best for me.

When you're stationary in a real car the wheel won't move, but if it's turned in any direction it will move when you start off. Also your carpet must be a little thin because I use my G27 pedals on carpet and when the grips are down mine doesn't move
