hi, new to drifting and im not sure if the problem is my setup on the car, setup on the wheel or just a lack of skill :)

anything in 3rd gear and above i have no issues with, last corner at Tsukuba is fine, however on the slower 2nd gear corners i find that i am ending up on the inside of the track, the car gets to a point where no matter what i do i end up facing losing front end grip and hitting the inside wall.

If i drop the car down a gear it helps slightly but usually still fails.

ive tried

altering the settings on the wheel
altering camber/toe
Changing car
altering my entry style, more/less speed and more/less angle.
shifting the brake bias front and back and stomping the brakes...

Bit tricky as i cant use the handbrake on the fanatec wheel unless im going in a straight line... (but i would think this would just result in bringing the back end round more)

This doesnt seem to be an issue in drift mode but im not convinced that is as 'realistic' or the same as the online mode so im just trying this in the normal race mode, which from a quick search seems to be the general consensus....

help! :)

starting the drift on a wide corner ill use power over, on the tighter corners as that isnt an option i will usually use weight transfer, swing the car one way then power and turn the other way.

using comfort hards (not changed the psi (if you can?))

not sure what's happening to you here, loosing front end in a corner would normally have you sailing wide, the slower corners require a lot more control of the throttle. techniques your using sound good, you shouldn't really need the handbrake like u say (its only for getting yourself out of a speed related problem or tricky fast entry, but is considered a shortcut and easier than balancing throttle) may just be a particular area you need to work on, it's all trial and error, it's very hard to explain every aspect of the balance in drifting.

you may well be right, its difficult when there are so many variables, must be 10 settings on the wheel, in game, car, technique, tune etc...

im getting better at the first corner at tsukuba but still struggling with the banked hairpin and the one before the back straight.

Tsukuba isn't a course I'd recommend just starting, a flatter track with more of a variety of turns would benefit you more. Autumn Ring Mini Reverse, Circuito de Madrid Reverse or a custom Tokyo Bay layout can teach you a lot more than Tsukuba at a quicker pace in my opinion.

It all comes down to practice though, put in the effort and you'll see the results, drifting is more or less something you have to feel out yourself. The biggest thing that helped me was in-car videos of real life drifting on Youtube.

Good luck. 👍

thanks for the advice i will give those tracks a try, i have watched some in car vids and i have been drifting once myself, seem to becoming obsessed now :)
