First, the specifics.

Firmware Version: 6.20
PSP Version: 3001

Here's where the "help" is needed: I want to run CFW as I've been wanting to play a proper Gran Turismo game for the longest (GT2, no less) but apparently you need CFW to do just about every damn thing you could think of. I'm curious in knowing whether or not I can run CFW in any capacity; I haven't kept up to date on what's been going on as every time I do, I feel like chucking my PSP straight into a wall. :yuck:

I appreciate any and all help, even if it's still bad news.

There's an exploit found for FW 6.20, so if you can wait a while.. (months, but hey you've been waiting years for GT5 didn't you?) .. then perhaps there will be a way to put CFW on your PSP. The other way is, reselling your PSP and buying an older 1000/2000 model, be aware though for the motherboards of the 2000.

FW 6.20?!?!

Back a couple of years ago when I was putting GT on my PSP (sold a long time agoo) the firmware wasnt only up to 3 or something. Cant you drop it back a couple of firmwares or whatever and then put a custom firmware in one of those versions? I dont really know but when I did it to my 1000 I had to downgrade the firmware to put custom firmware on.

No, it's a hardware issue I'm afraid (combined with the fact that you're using 6.20 OFW, though I may be mistaken). If you had a 2000 or 1000 series model, then you'd have more luck (since, for the most part, they can be 'customised' regardless of current firmware). But, as mentioned, exploits (which often lead to CFW) have been discovered, which would hopefully cover the 6.20 OFW/3000 PSP you're running on. But, I've got a feeling we won't see much this side of the release of MGS: Peace Walker.

you cannot downgrade your firmware if you have a PSP 3000 series. :yuck: Check your local craigslist and see if you can pick up a cfw enabled psp for cheap.
