I am a big camaro fan and I am trying to get this tune down right for my 2nd gen. (Marry Pozzi's Camaro)

I believe I have the LSD,and transmission figured out but having some trouble with the suspension and the weight.

Any help would be great. I can inbox you my current tune numbers and you can see how it works for you or if I could use some improving.

I really do not care about losing to other cars during drag racing. I just want to have the absolute handsdown best tune, and the fastest Camaro RS there is lol.

Another question. Going down the "1/4" in Indy. What should be my trap speed roughly? With nitrous I am trapping 155 average. W/O roughly about 136mph

Its really hard to tell after all my test and tunes if I am improving the car or making it worse. Seems like I keep going back and forth. Guess its because every other car I line up with is either slower, or extremely fast. I tried launching in 1st and shifting as needed. Even launching in second and spraying. Hell, even switched from Manual to Auto

Funny thing is, this is the only car I am interested in the game and is the reason I bought GT6 lol. Always wanted to "drive" my dream car in a video game, and GT6 is the first to offer it. Having an absolute blast driving this around. Winning and losing. Its all good to me!

Nothing to do with tuning but a great little 12 minute video of the car and it's owner.

Seems you are close to the car and all.

Sorry don't have any tips for you buddy, but that video is sweet! I think I'm going to buy one and tune it now.

Heres a Base tune
Tranny do it in this order
Final gear 3.600
Max speed minimum
Final gear minimum
1st minimum
2nd dont touch
3rd 2.456
4th maximum
5th maximum
6th maximum

Suspension
Ride height max/max
spring rate min/max
camber 3/min
toe -.080/.45

front tyres= comfort hard
rear tyre =racing soft

make sure you overhaul, and car is 1st gear launch quick shift to 2nd , shift at 6500rpm, no nos base tune

front tyres= comfort hard
rear tyre =racing soft

Biggest tip for all muscle cars; putting comfort tires on the front will give maximum grip to rear tires. Apparently high grip tires in the front create rolling resistance and cause rear tirespin in this game, which was not the case in GT5.

Oh yes, I know all about Marry Pozzi's Camaro. I'm just a huge Camaro fanatic. The second gens (70-81), but manily the 70-73 are my favorite body style.

Thank you for the tip with the tires. I always used soft on the front so cant wait to try this out!

Thank you for the base tune. I will set that for my tune #3 and see how it compares to mine.

For the max speed. Do I keep it that low? Or should I raise it a hair to trap a bit higher?

If you need a little more top end speed, use a higher final flip. If its to long, use a lower final flip.

Ok, I have the ballast at 20%. I figure I should add some weight in the rear

I believe I read on here somewhere in a tune topic that the LSD is a hit or miss? For my base I set

30
40
20

Dont know if that will help or hurt.

Don't bother adding weight, It will only slow you down. Also from what I have tested the LSD doesn't do anything for drag racing :)

I'm with you there, a split bumper Camaro is all I want.

Those camaro's are sexy aren't they. My 94 and my 98 Z28 will have to do for the mean time until I hit my mid life crisis in a few years.

I wasn't adding additional weight to the car. Its full weight reduction. I was just moving some of the weight to the rear instead of keeping it 50/50. Or is this a no no for drag cars?

If LSD doesnt do anything. I will just go back to standard.

I have been lining up with a couple other Camaro's of the same and they just fly off the line like a bat out of hell. Usually gap me by 2 cars.

You cant change the weight distribution without adding weight to the car.

The values for the LSD wont make you faster/slower, but the customizable one is faster than the standard one.

would like one of those as well and waiting for mine to hit as well who knows right.

Ok, thank you for clearing that up for me :)

I explained the mid life crisis to my wife recently. She shot the idea of buying another project car down...She'll later find out in a few years why I am spending so much time in the garage and why she is not allowed in lol.

for those that own and tuned the 00 SS, What are you trapping at Indy? I'm trapping 140 on motor. working on motor tune before I attempt nitrous

Is there a way to race against your own ghost? Would like to know if I am improving my tune. Rarely get to line up against other 00 SS. Did today and got smoked badly. Haven't seen any since

To race your ghost do a 1 player time trial at route x. Stop just before the start line and launch like you would at indy. Then the time consumig part of finishing the lap and saving ghost data

I do notice at Indy. About 8ft from the finish line, I hit 6th gear. Should I be already in 6th gear roughly 20ft away? Or should I just hit 6th when crossing?

Utilize all gears possible to get the most pull out of your cars. eg. Don't only use 1-5 in a 6 speed transmission, flip your transmission lower and use all 6 and manipulate all the pull you can squeeze out of every single gear. You should already be in 6th gear hitting the rpm where max power of the car is as you are crossing the line.

This is correct, although some lower horsepower cars may launch better with 1st gear rideout, and doing so can stretch the trans too far for 6th to be usable. I haven't tuned the '00 Camaro yet, but I do have a base tune on the '97 Z28. If you want to send a friend request, BP_Z28, I'll be online sometime this afternoon or tonight if you'd like someone to tune against. I don't have the Pozzi Camaro, unfortunately.

Yea, I'll send you an F.R anyways. I'd like to race against some of the frequents on this forum.

Alot better discussions can be had :)

Well bought an early "easter" gift for my 6 year old boy. Picked up GT6 at game stop today for the deal they had ($39.99 w/DLC and 1mill credit)

Sucks he has more cars than me. We played together back in GT5 always on the Top Gear test track.

Looks like I'm going to have to up my game with my tuning since he wants his Camaro's tuned also...Has all the same ones as I do with exception to the 97 Z28.

I wouldn't mind buying a camaro ss '00 and building it with ya if you like. If I beat ya I'll give you a couple pointers.

I'm game. Would like to run against more camaros. 00,97,73, or even a 69 (dont have the Z28 yet).. Through a quick base tune on the 97. Been tuning the 00 like crazy. Sometimes I will beat my ghost, I'll change some settings. Go back and lose lol.

I'm all open for pointers.

Well hey I'm game if you want to tune online some time :)

I did notice, unless I forget to save alot.

When I tune against my ghost in Sp X, I race to the 400m and cut it off. My 00SS tune has improved against my previous ghost. Almost hit my top speed (like 5mph before crossing finish line). When I come to indy, the tune is not even close?

Indy is around 30m short of a 1/4. SSRX Tunes will always top out later.

Since it is shorter. Should I retune my gears to better accomodate top speed at Indy? Or just roll with the SSRX tune and keep tuning that way?

Crossed finish line just before hitting 6th gear in the 00 after leaving SSRX. Where previously I just had beaten my ghost.
