I just saw a team fbi video and one of them was drifting an rx-7 and it was reaching speeds like 230mph (Im pretty sure it was mph), so I wanted to know some FR cars that can reach those speeds without having many transmission problems. All my cars I have now are pretty low hp, so I want to try drifting a super fast one.

It was KM/H...Team FBI uses KM/H for all their vids and cars. They're from Canada and Paris...They probably don't use MPH...💡 Look at everybody's gauge dials or whatever...Where it says your speed.

Well any car with some HP and wide gears can do that.. there's a shortage of corners to drift at that speed though, so I don't quite get the point...

And to drift at sch a high speed, there would need to be a preffered setup with suspension.

Not any old cow can whip up a corner going sideways at speeds of 200km/h. and still hold line., And yes its true, limited corners provide the oppurtunity to do such a thing anyway.

well, I wouldn't enter the turn with top speed, and also with a higher speed I'd put on harder tires making turning a bit easier at high speeds. I basically just want to make a lap around the track while dirfting a whole lot faster.

It's all in the gearing and hp if you wanna go fast between corners.. though the handling in the actually corners (aka the drifting) will be impaired.

I personally don't see a problem drifting at high speeds if that's what you mean, I actually find that easier than slow corners... I find feinting and braking to be the best way to enter drifts from very high speeds.

If high speed stability is your problem, then a simple solution would be a little downforce. Grippier tires could help, but I'd stop at N2 or N3 personally. IMO N2s are more than enough for race drifting, I usually just use N1s myself.

I'm not 100% sure I understand your question, but I hope I'm helping somewhat ;)

I use soft racing tires for racing :p although thats only on small trakcs like trial mountain.

I just want to know a FR car that can reach high hp and drift without having transmission problems. Also a car that handles well would be good too. But basically I hate when the tranny has problems.

Any FR with a wide torque band, they're easier to drift with a wide (?) gearbox..

I'm not sure what you mean with "high hp", but most cars seem to be tuneable way past what's necessary. Cars like the Holden Monaro, BMW M3s, Silvias (K's or Spec R), FD RX7s (used), Supras, new Skylines/G35s and many many more can all be tuned to well over 3-400 HP and are well behaved and easy to drift.

I'd still stick to N tires for drifting, or S for some slightly sideways racing.

I'm really sick of N2's for drifting. Unless I'm driving a low hp/torque car I'll go with N3's, or S1 or 2's. I find that the extra grip allows better steering and control and is still easy enough to drift. N2's generate far too much wheelspin and you just wind up doing skids instead of actually drifting.

GT4's FRs Arranged by Power in Descending Order
[insert cheezy sounding fanfare here]

Of course, using hp as a basis to guage a car's speed is kind of fallacious - power to weight ratio is a considerably more determining factor to consult. You certainly do want a broad torque curve as Ske already alluded to.

As for the tranny problems... well thats a silly complaint imo, unless I'm totally misinterpretting your meaning. Purchase a customizeable tranny and tune it to your little heart's content.

well, I have an rx-7, and its not even max hp, and when I use n3s on it I can customize the transmissionas much as I want, but it still has tons of wheelspin. I wanted to know a high stock hp car that was pretty good at drifting. The list helps but I'd like an opinon on the ability of a specific car that doesn't suck at sliding.

You want high hp, no wheelspin, and still be able to drift? Frankly, if the wheels don't spin you won't be able to drift it very good.. but try the NSX LM road car then, it's MR so it'll spin a bit less than FRs... it's not the best drift car in the game, but it might be the best compromise.

Frankly I think you should probably focus more on throttle control, cause just about any FR car can do what it seems you want. Wheelspin is part of drifting... you'd want the wheels to spin on demand.

I just dont want massive wheelspin when on the first 2/3 gears. my car that I race drift with has racing tires and no wheelspin when accellerating, but it can still drift quite easily.

mmm, Like Ske said, throttle control is your best bet.

I really don't know what your trying to acheive with having no wheelspin, but if you do so. the limits and capability's of your car are really comprimised.

Practice makes perfect, to many times have guys come on here saying there brand new to drifting.. and have had complaints about what they like or not, and how to fix it.

There answer is always the same no matter how much techincal mumbo jumbo is incorpriated. "Practice makes perfect".

Personally i think you should do what everyone else does, and live with the "massive wheelspin" and get used to it. You'll gather the concept of drifting much quicker.

A magic car? Score! That would be fun... Haha just like ridge racer When I played it in the DS you can turn left on a right turn and drift it facing left.

I know the difference between a normal amount of wheelspin, and too much wheelspin. I'd just like anyone who has drifted a fast fr car that isn't bad to drift, give their opinon on it. It seems I've had to explain what I wanted to know a few too many times now..

I have alot of FR cars that can hit 190mph down the Front straight at High Speed Ring. Including a RX-7 R Bathurst R. I have a few race drift cars that hit 240mph down the Mulsain (sp?) straight at Le 'Mans. It's funny drifting in the middle of the 24hours of le Mans with a Mecedese CLK-GTR GT1 Race Car at 150mph+. :sly:
Not so funny when you have to pit for rear tires after 3 laps though. :dunce:

Okay here's what I've been using: Toyota Supra RZ '97.

Tuned to 550 HP~ with full upgrades except:
tires: I use sports softs.
suspension: I use semi-racing.

Find a setup that works for you, and be sure to change every setting until you find one that's perfect

With it, I find that combining feint + powerover maneuvers into one motion works very well.

I like to drift high horse power drift cars. The supra and the Viper is one of my fav. You can see them in my galler. ( Lgforce gallery) go check them out.
