Two comments:

- How many people were accepting of a mid-engined Honda in 1989? How many of you now can't imagine it otherwise?

- Why, of all the exhaust styles to copy, are companies using Lexus as the template? What focus group came up with "đź‘Ť" for that design, where do they regularly meet, and where the heck is all my plastique....
 
IL suspects the next NSX will get a 5.5L V10 producing 550 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque that's derived from a V8 that's slated for the next-gen, rear-wheel-drive Acura RL.

Ooooohh, a RWD RL? Even with Honda's ghastly Acura grille that has to be one brilliant car. I find it ironic that Honda is producing a V8 in a saloon road car.

Looks like there is going to be a mighty big power war going on over in Japan over the next couple of years. Should be quite entertaining to see what they come up with.

All that's missing is Mazda now since Subaru & Mitsubishi have their own little war.

I do not really remember much of 1989, being that I was only four years old at the time. The last thing on my mind was what Honda was doing with their cars. Having gotten a little idea about the start of the NSX from reading various magazines, it seems the magazine editors were quick to accept a mid-engine Honda.

Nowadays, I doubt many can imagine the NSX not being mid-engined.

I do not get it either. The stacked exhaust on the Lexus IS-F looks incredibly awkward and odd; the exhaust would look much better in a more normal configuration.

I do not understand Honda's decision with the new Acura grille. Less than a week ago, I saw a new TSX with the grille and instantly thought how much better the car would look if it did not have that odd chrome/polished thing in the grille opening.

Mazda needs to get something out there to get into this competition, especially since they advertise more Mazdas road racing on any given weekend.

That's likely because little ol' Hyundai has managed to scare the hell out of Toyota and Honda with superior build quality and an increasingly good reputation that is likely holding back gains in market share.

since when has Honda made cars that look passionate? F430 doesn't look too passionate either, more like feminine, 4-wheeled feline. "Passionate car" brings Alfa Romeo to my mind.

I think I chose the wrong words...

I meant that if you are to create a fast car, should it not at least have some subtle details that indicate this performance? I realize that BMW defies just that, but certainly Honda can make a car that carries the NSX name that is a bit more radical than that. I would have no problems otherwise, except that the original NSX was an outrageous car at its debut, only mellowing out when it became the norm.

And, why Lexus? For now, it is unique among those sedans, the company itself aside.

You're not actually trying to judge the car's exterior design based off these spy shots, are you?

The next generation Acura NSX is still two years away. But the cars with which it will compete are currently moving the goal posts further and further toward the horizon. By the time the NSX arrives, it could need rocket boosters and a hyperdrive. Or maybe it already has them?

The NSX prototype that we recently showed you lapping the 'Ring has recently been clocked unofficially by KGP spy photographers doing a 7:37 lap around the 'Ring in traffic. It's no secret what kind of cars live in that 7:30 bracket. Seeing as how Honda CEO Takeo Fukui wants the NSX to lap the 'Ring faster than the GT-R, we'd be remiss if we didn't mention that Nissan's supercar has done it officially in 7 minutes, 29 seconds.

Remember, though, when the Nissan GT-R was casually timed by trackside reporters, they clocked it doing a 7:38, and well know now what GT-R can really do when pressed by a professional. If the NSX mule and it's rumored 550-hp 5.5L V10 are really that good already, then the car looks in good shape to deliver on Honda CEO Fukui-san's command to beat the GT-R and LF-A.

As a bonus, KGP also managed to snap the interior of the NSX prototype. While not revealing much, we can see its gauges and the paddle shifters for its rumored 8-speed transmission. Also note that these new pics of the NSX prototype were taken while it ran that 7:37 lap.

Looks lika an R8, RX-8, IS-f andAccord went at it for a while and then that came out.

I have concluded that, afterboth facepalms and failure notices, that I lost sight of what was really important: the mechanics. I really made a fool of myself for that...

The lap in traffic: what exactly was the speed limit? Or was it traffic of other prototypes undergoing testing?
 
Smaller, lighter than it's rivals. Raspy V10 exhaust note. Sexy camouflage.

I've loved NSX's since I first laid eyes upon them in the original Gran Turismo and my passion has been undoubtedly rekindled by this mule. I LOVE it!

Oh, but wait. It's not mid-engined is it? Damnit...
 
I hope the new NSX hurts the GT-R and LFA. In the battle of the Japanese Supercars I'm going for NSX.:dopey: The exhaust note reminds me of the Porsche Carrera GT, a very sexy sound for a supercar.:sly:
 
well, it better be lighter and more powerful than CGT, if a Zonda F Clubsport could beat GT-R only due it's better high speed grunt.. :lol:
