I haven't been having my best luck with that Supra. I ruled out the Mugen NSX, though, just not enough torque. I've always seen the Castrol Supra and Oreca as about even, depending on the driver. And over at Racing-line.org it's the Denso Supra that gets the best times, which I don't have so I don't know if there's any difference between the two.

BTW I shaved almost a second off this morning. Woo Hoo.

Trust me, you do want the denso... for some reason it really is just a tiny bit faster. It's unexplainable because the end power/pwr is the same for both cars. However, just as you have noticed, the denso is always on top with castrol following and maybe an oreca... for some reason the oreca is never on that list though. It's something like a 5 to 1 ratio of supras vs orecas. Only 1 in the top ten at raceline for this course. (in the front/rear class) Everything above that one oreca is a supra of some sort. I've decided that I may take a run with supra, but for now I am running another car. Not sure about T times, but my goal this race is to keep up with the pack... winning is only a distant hope considering the pros I have seen keeping an eye on this event.

Catch you guys later.

We can't use a denso. Can we? I thought you had to buy it. I'm gonna try a Calsonic,C5R,and a Viper tonight.Maybe just for fun an Escudo. I'm sure if someone got a perfect lap in an escudo we'd all be smoked. The best times at midfield with an escudo are in the 54's!!

Actually, I think the escudo is still a bit slow on the castrol at this track.

Btw, you must buy the car, that means no denso, or any other car that can't be bought at the car dealer.

Flat out.

I think that also means a calsonic is not availible.

You can only use a car that you bought from the dealership. Nothing else is allowed. The Denso is out. Its little brother is in.
I had some laps in the mid 43's today but none were clean. Its amazing how narrow the track gets the faster you drive.

Yep, still in the 43's here, and who bloody well moved the fences closer?:D

Sough, is it okay if I try this event? If it is, consider me in.
My work assignment is local this week, so I have some time to spend.
My roomate has been testing some cars and has made a suggestion.
I still have to try them for myself. I'm just that way. :D

And...I believe the Denso is faster only because it has more power. It's definitely a FR favorite.
If it were allowed in this comp., well...I'd have to use it.

LMK

*leaves, to test some cars*

edit:
Well, for S&Gs, I tried both of the Supras (and others).
They spec out the same, but they have different handling characteristics.
It's tough to jump out of one car and into another, only to find that the technique, used in the previous car, no longer works for the current car.
The Supras must have different aero packages.
The Tom's is, consistently, faster on the straights by 2-3mph (@max DF).
It's also looser.
High 15s, & 42s

Same here. I'll be happy if I can be within two seconds of the leaders.

Also, are we supposed to be keeping the car a secret?

-The Denso and Calsonic/Loctite skylines are not allowed because they can not be bought.

-Cars don't have to be secret, but if you want to keep your's secret, that's okay too.

On the denso/tom's issue, the denso seems to "stick" slightly better, but it is hard to define.

And ODP, you're good to go, have a nice drive on the streets of rome.

On the note of being secret... sorry if it came off that way guys.

Im running the oreca. I hope to put down the best time possible with the american monster. (Im kinda ignoring the french team ties. )

My goal is just to put down the best time I can with the oreca. Plan and simple.

I do have some time goals in mind, but Im not gonna discuss final times. ;)

Nice racing format though, sough. Im havin a ball with this one. 👍
Later.

C5R..I used to love these vehicle but it is very slow compared to these other cars. It is slower than my Camaro Race car at this track! Well I've dipped into the 45's at the T2. Man yall are too fast gettin 42's and 43's. Well I hope to place 5th..hehehe:D

Been running the Vertigo and I have to say, she's quite competent. Great handling, inspires confidence.
Extreme contrast to the Tom's Supra. When I drive the Tom's, it's hard to be consistent. Fast, but it likes to whack into the barriers.
The Denso combines the good aspects of them into in one, impressive racer.
I have clean saves with the Vert and Tom's. The Vert time is a couple of tenths slower than the Tom's.
My Vert time is PB, but the Tom's can go another three tenths faster (she's been there, but dirty).
I'll keep at it, maybe I'll get lucky.

New T times . . . T1 16.552, T2 44.551. Getting a clean lap is tough. Rome has some very narrow sections.

Well I think I have my save.

Oreca Viper_ Rome 2 :D

I was gonna run a vertigo, but I spent too much time refining the oreca laps. Now Im gonna spend the next couple of days trying to break my current best and get something that I will be proud of.

The lap was ruled as clean by der alta and myself after much review.
I have already had der alta review the lap, but if you, sough, want to review it before the deadline that is also fine.

Fun race, thanks for setting it up, and thanks for participating to everyone else.

Catch you guys at the finish.

Gonna have to pull out the beast again for a final fling before the deadline, see ya's at the finish guys 👍

OK my supra is still my fastest car. I just knocked a half a second off of my time. I think T1 is a high 16 and T2 is a 45.xx. I'll check in a few min. and can all 4 tires be on the rumble strip?

I don't have a clean lap yet. Running out of time, and time I don't have much anyhow. If I don't get a clean lap in tomorrow... I'm out :( I'm running the Vertigo for anyone interested, but I recently got a wheel during the christmas break, and I'm still adapting to it ( not including fixing up a good setup for the wheel and pedals, although I'm getting closer ) as I think I'm still about 1 to 1.5 seconds off my DS2 pace up to now, but its coming down gradually. In the end it will be nice to see what everyones times with all the different cars will be

Just for reference I guess, best T times with wheel are 16.3 / 44.5

Yeah thats not a problem. The main thing on this track is to not touch any walls. Everything else is considered part of the track, even the sidewalk after the first curve.

Good I'd be dqed if you couldn't do that...new times
T1--16.721
T2--44.663
Also I can hit 199mph on the straight. My main trouble is turn 2 and turn 6. I could probally shave a 1/2 a second if I could get it right. Well I think I'm doing pretty good for my first competition.:O

Mine too. :)

I ended up submitting my Tom's run.

While the course was still fresh in my mind, I took the Denso out for an attempt at the FR record. I was successful.

Well... Time Submitted. Oreca Viper :D

I was really hoping to break a racing line barrier for the oreca, but couldn't do it.

I still put down close to my best, so there is no shame here. I was suprised by the oreca. It shifts low in all incarnations (concept or oreca) and always has an unusual looseness in the rear end dispite the heavy 10 cylinder up front.

Anyway, time submitted, oreca viper.
btw... odp, awesome 👍 are you gonna submit the denso record for racingline? I say do it. And of course, congradulations on an excellent show of skill. Just matching people like flinx is near impossible to racers like myself. Good job.
Oh yeah... I would really like to see my viper take a castrol or two. :trouble:

Thanks, Kent.
I don't know, maybe. I don't have an account at The Racing Line. Though it's easy enough to get one.
There is still another .4-.5sec left in it.
I don't know if I have the determination to endure the frustrations of getting there.

Isn't it weird when you go from JGTC@ Rome2 to Rally cars@ SSR5Wet? It felt so slow.

Well, even with all the help (nods in a certain direction) I have come to the realization that I simply can't control a car this powerful. I've been trying off and on all week and can't keep a clean lap that is anywhere near fast.

I'll graciously bow out and slip quietly out the side door.

AO

Sorry to hear that alta... I wanna talk with you more, but this is not the forum for it so expect a pm or IM or something. :D

Yeah... Odp, I hear ya.

I know that my viper lap left .6 on the track, .2 pre T1, .2 post T1, and .2 Post T2. I am willing to bet that someone at your level could probably take a week and bring it down .4 or so, but I dont think anyone would really bring it down much further than that. I mean, it is the oreca.

Im also feelin you on the rome2 to ssr5wet thing. I don't think I can even come close to running ssr5wet without a dose of stimulants to keep me awake and a dose of downers to keep my hands steady.

Im glad to see that this many people have submitted times. It's gonna be sweet to finish this race and see how things worked out.

Good luck you guys...only 1 day left.
