I've had a couple, including a '67 that I still miss dearly, and helped friends with others--but I'm definitely not an expert. :P

I love '67s, and might be a little disappointed that a '67 was used, but they're not exactly rare cars. The bits that make them unique are gone and hopefully went to helping another '67 that was lacking.

No dire need to change out the Solex, they're fantastic carbs and are cheap to rebuild, just recommending the DCEV because of the improvement in power across the spectrum for off-road fun. So long as you don't plan steep descents and can avoid panic braking, rebuilt drums shouldn't be horrible. Chevy pattern would be the way to go if you do decide to go with discs because there aren't a great many options for off-road wheels in 5x112, and yeah, 5x205 discs are spendy. You'll likely need to tap the case for a new oversized stud (in-case half is oversized, obviously).
