"General advice thread? wtf?"

Well, simply put, this is a collection of information that I'll be putting together. I'll add stuff to it when I feel it's needed, if I notice it's something that people are asking about/misunderstanding alot. I'll write a few lines for now and update it once I get back from shopping with the wife (sigh). And I'm just gonna get this out of the way early: Yes you do get a free X1 at B-spec lvl 35.

B-SPEC
===================================================

"My driver's default mood is hot so he drives fast"
No, that won't make him drive fast. It will make him move faster along the cool-hot bar. This applies both to when you give him commands, and it also relates to the state of the race.

A cool driver will "change his mood" slower than a hot driver. The hotter the driver, the shorter will his patience be for adhering to your commands as well. A cool driver can stick to the command you gave him up to about 20 seconds after the timer has dissapeared, however, a hot driver will start making his own decisions again alot faster.

Since the drivers original mood decides how fast he moves along that shiny little bar, this also applies to his situation regarding the other cars on the track.

If a cool driver is close to the other racers, he won't move as fast into the red part, and if he's far from the other racers, he won't be moving into the cool part as fast either.

The contrary applies to a hot driver. They'll move into the red section of the bar alot faster than a cool driver once they're close to another driver, and vice versa when they've put some distance between themselves and the others.

Most people have the right idea about what the bar actually does ingame. If your driver is in the cool zone, he'll drive more carefully, althou he won't drive as fast. In the higher level races, this may lead to the opponents catching up. If he's in the hot zone, he'll drive faster althou he might drive too fast for his own abilities, thereby screwing up.

At about lvl 25, the skills of your B-spec driver should make it possible to counter for the negative sides of always keeping your driver in the red, thereby making it the preferred state of mind.

EVENTS
===================================================

"I need a pickup truck!"
This one can't be bought from any resellers, so you'll have to put your faith in the used car dealer. And we know how much that guy likes selling the cars you need. Thereby, ignore this race when you get it if he does'nt feel like selling one, and patiently wait around for the used car dealer to get one into stock. Alternatively, tell your friends you'll love them if they gift you a pickup.

If you want your B-spec driver to be able to complete this as well, make sure you tune the crap out of the pickup before handing it to him.

"GT All Stars is impossible!"
To save yourself the headache, wait with this one until you've gotten the Minolta, at wich point you should be able to complete it without much hassle.
It's possible to complete it with the Zonda (GT World Championship, B-spec reward) or the Furai (B-spec lvl 6 Mazda Challenge), however, I would'nt waste my time and mental health on maybe's.

"My car can't beat Like the Wind"
Rather common expression from people even thou they have the Zonda, racemodded ZR1 or a Mazda Furai. Indeed, you'll get blown away even if you've crammed those BHP up to oblivion. However, you won't if you tune the car. A general guideline when it comes to tuning for events where the tarmac is in decent condition, would be the following:

Body: Downforce max on both back/front or 5 below max.

Transmission: Drive a testlap and see what max-speed you reach on the longest straight. Set the topspeed of the car to about 20km/h above that (to account for wind resistance/downforce slowdown).

Suspension: If the tarmac is good, set it to 10 for extension and 9 for compression. You won't be needing good suspension on a well maintained racingtrack.
Warnings go out to Nurburgring Nordschleife where the tarmac has seen better days.

"The NASCAR event is too hard"
I don't mean any offense here, but drive well/tune well and it ain't hard at all. If you feel that the nascar ain't handeling as well as you want it to, then tune it until it does. That's why that option is there in the first place.

CREDIT FARMING
===================================================

As most of you probably know by now, there's a few options for doing this.

A-SPEC: Like The Wind - Indy
Your best way for making the most credits/hour until your reach the american championship. Yes, it might seem slow/tedious, but no matter how you see it, this will still be the fastest until you reach lvl 23.

A-SPEC: American Championship - Indy
How about increasing the income with 20.000c per race compared to "Like the Wind", with the exact same amount of laps? I doubt anyone would pass on that. Make sure you have an american car that can pull through. The Ford you win from the Dream Car Championship is an okay match.

A-SPEC: Dream Car Championship - Full championship
Complete and win races 1-4 of the Dream Car Championship, start the 5th one, and then quit it. You'll win the championship by points and receive the credits for placing #1 in total anyway. Besides, you don't wanna race the last track of the 5, since it's the Nurburgring wich can take you up to 20 minutes. Quitting the last race increases the credit/hour income.

Do note that this method won't give you more credits/hour than farming the american championship indy. However, it does make it less tedious, and if you smack an X-1 on the track for this, you've just found yourself a very manageble farming-event.

B-SPEC: Dream Car Championship - Full championship
Feeling lazy but still want those credits? Well, as we all know by now, B-spec ain't exactly the top-notch for getting rich. The payout for the events are downright pathetic. However, getting the cash for finishing first in a championship still provides a very good boost when it comes to B-spec creditfarming. This championship will take a while to complete, however, since you're not aiming for credits/hour (in that case go a-spec), this makes for an okay event to farm. Put the races on while you're doing IRL stuff like showering, doing the dishes, cooking or whatever, and make sure to check your PS3 to start the next race once in a while. Also, remember to skip the last race.

A-SPEC: Special Events
All of these, if done at the correct level, will grant you a significant boost in credits. Completing these as early as you can will for example give you a huge advantage when you start the game from scratch. However, these events can only be done once. If you can, complete these as soon as you unlock them. By doing that you'll receive the experience/credits when you need them the most, and avoid useless farming later on.

Some good details, just reword the Nascar event wording, its a bit condescending and not as constructive.

Otherwise a good go too reference when someone gets hung up.

Nice topic, but the B-spec farm can be done quite faster tbh.

I use the Dream Car Championship. La Sarthe only. Make sure its dry weather, and you will make 118k (something like that) every 15 minutes while driving an FGT. Its the shortest race among the championship. You dont have loading times after it as well, since you can just redo and redo and redo the race. I think in the end its faster than load times, with the competition bonus included.

What i did was just count the time, on an alarm. (15 minutes 20 seconds) than set the alarm on 16 minutes. After the alarm i pressed X X O X X and set the alarm on 16 minutes again.

So i farm without watching. :)
