Hispania F111 Launch

I think HRT are trying their best for looks to attract sponsors. If I was advertising I would be inclined to put what I'm advertising on that instead of last years livery for example.

HRT for 2011 WCC. You heard it here first.

Well, everyone else will have had 6 days of testing. HRT tested their car for an entire season.

I hope they don't get sponsors so they can keep those awesome messages!

It's a bit of a double edged sword... Don't get sponsors, and the car looks cool but the team will die. Get sponsors and the car wouldn't look as good.

Does anybody think General Dynamics will want to sue HRT? :)

I do think it's a rather clever way of endearing the team to people who probably weren't too fond of them for the whole driver swapping farce of last year, or the poor performance of the car.

Teams like Honda, Minardi, Jordan and Super Aguri didn't win many races, but they still had fans regardless. I think HRT will probably a little more popular with the fans this year.

It is. Was a good move hiring Daniel Simon to take care of the teams corporate image. I like the team already - http://cosmic-motors.blogspot.com/2011/02/formula-1-hrt-f111-with-cosmic-motors.html, http://cosmic-motors.blogspot.com/2011/01/official-f1-team-hrt-teams-up-with.html

You'll all be eating your words when HRT scores points at Bahrain.

I'm going to make a note of reminding you of your post in a few months. ;)

All the best to HRT, but the car doesn't look like much of an evolution of last year, I doubt it's going to be much faster.

The car itself has not been launched. Hispania are aiming to at least make it to the final test in Bahrain. They might make it to Barcelona with the F111, though I don't think they will. They'll probably just run the F110, possibly with a second driver if they can get one in time.

However, your cynicism is noted. I like the way you assume that Hispania's pictures are simply renders - other teams have had similar online launches in the past without anyone questioning their ability to produce a car.

But this is Hispania we're talking about. Other teams have an actual track record for releasing cars, and sponsors for that matter. They don't even have a second driver. I know that other teams have released done online launches just like Hispania are doing, but the difference between those other teams and HRT is that those other teams have actually produced a car for us to see by now. Hispania is still boasting the pictures. I think my criticism of the team is quite justified. Though, I will admit that it's probably a bit foolish to question if they'll even show up to race one. If anything, they'll show up with last year's car if this year's model isn't ready.

Damn, didn't knew Peter just got banned... :(
Anyhow, I think Hispania will show on the starting grid in Bahrain (unlike USF1) but whether they will show up in their new car or with their old car with new parts is a different story. None the less, they will show up regardless of what happens...

Exactly. This thread's title is misleading. You could've probably opened this thread with a different title, because the artist that produced the renders and the livery did a good job, you could've even opened this thread mentioning this car's launch is to be expected but meanwhile some renders were made public and you thought they were relevant enough to be shared here. But no car launch indeed.

And btw I don't understand where's astrosdude cynicism. He doesn't assume the car's pictures are simply renders. They are.

PS - Agree with Danny

I think it would look better without the messages, really cheapens the look of the car. It's kind of like the fat kid in gym class who has to be funny to make up for the fact he can't keep up.

I think you would look better with a sense of humour, it really cheapens what people think of you:idea:

I hope HRT actually run their cars with those stickers, should be really amazing in such a corporate-sponsorship dominated sport:lol:

It's called an opinion, once you respect them, it might change the way people think of you.

I just think it's hard to take them seriously when they have the equivalent of novelty bumper stickers plastered all over their car. It's like when a comic actor suddenly tries to do serious roles, usually it doesn't work as it's hard to take them seriously.

I don't see how having a gray car with no stickers on is any more "serious". At least they injected some humour into it, which is showing some spirit. Something which teams like Toyota never showed.
It would be nice to see sponsors backing it up, but quite clearly, they are still in talks for a 2nd driver. I think their history has shown at the very least they will be on the grid and will be racing if they manage to find the sponsors. Thats all they need to do to be a "serious" team in my opinion.

I would rather there be a grid full of Hispanias than Mercedes...because Hispania only exist to race.

@Vitantonio Liuzzi's career:

He was a hot commodity in 2004 when he absolutely dominated in F3000 in Arden Team (I think he was in top 2 in all the races that year) , then he got a contract at Red Bull which was famous for mismanaging their young drivers (vide Friesacher , Bernoldi or Klien). They thought having rotation in driving seat would be a good thing. It wasn't. Both Liuzzi's and Klien's career went downhill from that point (but to be honest Liuzzi had his chances in Torro Rosso and Force India).

Damn, didn't knew Peter just got banned... :(

I'd like an explanation for this, if possible. Unless I have missed a big event I have found no reason for a ban from his latest posts. He also received the GTP award for best turnaround member, something which the entirety of GTPlanet managed to vote on so it's not like he was granted that without any reason.

I think the bolded part may be why I have a hard time taking it seriously. Has there even been rumors of them being close to signing one? I'm sure they will be on the grid, but there isn't going to be a whole lot of progress with a rookie and a driver who has just signed with the team a short period of time before the season.

I guess I should clear up my opinion a bit as well, it's not the small ones I'm taking issue with it's the big ones on the side pods and front wing. It's generally not a good thing when you have to advertise the fact you are looking for sponsors(not to mention it looks insanely tacky), if the car performs well sponsors will come.

There was talk that Tonio Liuzzi and Christian Klien were both in the running for the second Hispania seat, but apparently they were also bidding for Kubica's Renault drive. Now that Renault have contracted Nick Heidfeld into the seat, Hispania can get on with finding a second driver.

This is where it gets tricky, because if the sponsors dont come then there is no chance the car is going to perform well.

Just look at Williams for the past few years with mediocre results they are struggling for sponsorship and had to let a driver who showed a bit of talent in Hulkenberg go so that they could put a guy in the second seat with some serious financial backing.
