I don't know why mods leave this thread open since it has become a wishlist instead of a thread on which standard cars deserve a premium version for GT6 and subsequent iterations in the series!

When I contributed to this Thread I used historical standard cars in the game. Game changing cars. That's what I felt this thread was about. It doesn't have to be locked because the OP is asking to learn more about cars. Although, I still point out the cars in the game.

Where does the OP say anything about standard cars?

This.

The 1994 IMSA GTS 300ZX racecar is a very notable machine due to the amount of accomplishments it racked up in a single year.

Yeah, this was an RM in GT2. Gold BBS made it look like the real car. Love it!

I've posted this around, and I'll keep doing so, because the car deserves it. :grumpy:

A PREMIUM MK.IV Supra RZ

If not for the fans, they (PD) should at least do it in respect to Mr. Toyoda, R.I.P

They can cut a Skyline (or 2) to make the room for it 💡

Hell ya, for ****ing sure. Bugatti Veyron is another car that deserves to be converted into premium.

So MUCH THIS. I was shocked that it was a standard.

on the subject of the capri, IF it makes it into the game, i hope they also have the south african 'pirahna' model.

Bentley Speed 8- Its a Le Mans winner for crying out loud. (On that note, the other LMP cars should have premium)

Jaguar XJ220- Its one of my favorite supercars.

Mazda Furai- Who wouldn't want to see the interior of that thing!

Chapparal 2J and 2D- If your paying 15 million for them, you might as well get an interior.

Ford GT40- One of the most iconic race cars. Like the chapparals, you pay a ridiculous amount of money for a dark interior.

A premium Toyota 2000GT is a must as it pushed the limits of Japanese car design

A premium Saleen S7 would also be cool as it's a real supercar built in the US

A premium Ford RS200 would be nice with the new Audi Group B car coming up

Man, some great posts in this thread. Learned some stuff about cars as well.

I would also like to include the Ferrari Testarossa as a Premium model. This was the "car" that symbolized exotic cars for me growing up, I saw it everywhere, Outrun, various movies, ect.

The Lamborghini Diablo SV was probably the most prominent for me, thanks to Need For Speed III and IV. It is just so excessive. PD were late to the party as far as including supercars and I still think they're behind other games in this regard.

The Chappy 2J is a no brainer, all they need to do is give it more polygons and better textures, it even has a freakin interior in GT5 despite being a standard car :ouch:

They need to bring back the road going Toyota GT-One from GT3, a rebuilt R390 Road car and Race Car, a Race GT-One, some olden sports cars like the MGB, the AC 289, a rebuilt Giulia Sprint, a Ferrari 250 GTO.

That car has a funny plus as well: it could become the convertible version featured in OutRun by tuning it in GT Auto, like the California in GT5 (puts the roof up). Two cars at the same time.

I think I'll end up buying one someday. Isn't particularly expensive to buy (yes to run), it's gorgeous, relevant on media and is one of my all time favorites.

Lancia Stratos! Just one of the coolest looking cars; given its time frame. I think I remember seeing a Stratos in one of the trailers. Needless to say it looked pretty damn sexy

The Stratos IS a new premium car ;)

In terms of what currently is in GT5, I'd like to see the standards with detailed cockpits be converted to premium. I.e.
  • Crysler Prowler
  • Jay Leno Tank Car
  • Caterham 7
  • Chaparral 2J
  • All open-cockpit LMP's
  • FGT
  • Etc.

Agreed this was huge in the '80s. I Love them.

Well, since other people are nominating cars not currently in GT, I'll say the JC Eunos Cosmo (with the 20B). Still the only production car with a 3-rotor fitted from the factory, and, IIRC, the first car with sequential twin turbos. So that's historical importance covered. Plus, dat 20B doe!:sly:

I agree so many good standard cars. They should have cockpit view for them. I really hope they made good improvement to standard cars. Otherwise that will be again the biggest cons of GT6. They should have know that most people dint like the idea of standard cars. Instead 100-200 premiums would be better thing to do.

Some good suggestions, especially the Volvo P1800, I particularly like the Shooting Brake version.

I don't think anyone has suggested the Saab 99 Turbo. James May and Jeremy Clarkson tell me that Saab were "the first to put a turbo on a mainstream car." Surely this makes the Saab 99 Turbo iconic?

1991 Nissan Motorsport Australia Skyline R32 GT-R

GODZILLA! That's what Australia called the Nissan GT-R's that dominated Bathurst in the early 90's. They were so good that the bogans (rednecks) decided to ban them.

Build it, race it, win it. Jack Brabham and his BT19 deserves a place in Gran Turismo.

1972 Lamborghini Miura SV

The final production iteration of the car that made Lamborghini what it is today. Earlier Miura's had aerodynamic issues causing them to be unstable at high speeds. These issues had been solved for the SV meaning it finally had the dynamics to match it's beauty.

When you get Aston Martin and the Italian design house Zagato to design a car you create the DB4 GT Zagato. A race car that wouldn't look out of place in an art museum. By a mile Aston Martin's most beautiful car. Will need over $1,500,000 to own one of only 23 built.

Allan Moffat drove the 1971 Bathurst race solo...well he did have a co-driver but I can't remember his name. The Australian Government brought in new laws after the GTHO Phase III scared of the huge power (380hp for the GTHO) cars were achieving.
