For one it doesnt old any rights for the Ferrari F1s... Ferrari owns its rights... second F1 CE had the rights to several F1 classic cars and that was also a Sony game... third PD could just import this F1s from GT3 and call them what they want and there would be no problem like there was none in GT3.

Sorry, I forgot that Ferrari are the exception.

F1 CE was a licenced Formula One game that's how the historic cars were there, GT5 isn't. Sony no longer holds the F1 licence. I really didn't get the point you were trying to make there.

Then they're not real historic F1 cars then and rather than import them they could just make new premium versions.

That would be cool, maybe some Formula Vee's too? 1200's and 1600's?

They can't, Formula One Management holds all rights to anything F1 past or present and they won't licence them to PD as they have Codemasters as their exclusive game maker. In fact one of the F1 2011 development staff has already stated in an interview that even for them it's difficult to get the historic cars and make them accurate because of the issues with the sponsors on the cars i.e they can get the rights to the actual car but sponsors and colour schemes is a different matter.

We don't need official logo's or paint, heck, I wouldn't mind even if they weren't vintage F1, any vintage single seaters would do for me. The "VINTAGE FGT" is a brilliant idea. How about 60's and 70's indy cars mmmm, awesome.

That's exactly why I suggested a vintage FGT. PD owns the rights to the FGT as it is a fictional car they created, they should make a new one modeled after the 60's era Formula cars. No license restrictions then. 👍
Yeah, exactly. Even ISI will go fictional with vintage Formula 1's, but fictional doesn't mean it wont have realistic handling. Another great fictional formula is the one from Reiza studios http://www.virtualr.net/formula-classic-for-game-stock-car-released/
As we can see there's no need of licensed content just those F1 from GT3 converted to premium (or even standard) and paintable, and a smaller Formula 3-ish would be awesome.

Classic F1 cars would be worth a decent sum of DLC money to me. I don't care if the liveries are there. Just make them look close enough and perform as they "should". Or at least as we imagine they should. I don't mind some trickery to get around a license. Or just more Formula GTs based on different era F1 cars. Something to differentiate the cars in replays and such. Although, if you've noticed there are way more NASCAR, Drift and Drag Lobbies than Formula cars (non-Oval tracks). Unfortunately we don't have the numbers. That said, it is something PD should consider for GT6. For me its quality of the cars available not quantity (read: infinitesimally small variances on GTRs, S2000s, Miatas, etc).

It's great idea to have some classics, I don't mind if those are classic Ferrari, Maseratti, Alfa and Mercedes touring cars from 50's or 70/80's formula cars or 80's DTM with E30, Audi V8 and Jaguars. But the most important thing, if they add anything from particular era, add dozen of it. I don't like tuning cars for PP to have balanced races, I would like to have group of competitive cars from that era just as they are and not making any fantasy stuff from them. Thanks in advance...

There was 6 f1 cars in GT3 indeed.

F094/H Damon Hill 1994 Williams Renault V10
F090/S 1990 McLaren Honda MP4/5B
F686/M Nigel Mansell's 1986 Williams Honda FW11
F686/S **
F687/S Ayrton Senna's 1987 Lotus Honda 99t
F688/S 1988 McLaren MP4/4

Why can't we have those cars in GT5? I would love to see those cars in GT5 even as a standard car.

The way the thread was worded it sounded like actual F1 cars. I'd be all for a selection of made up open wheel race cars, "vintage FGT" is a good idea or even a selection of vintage FGT's with the year as a prefix (1967 Formula GT, 1978 Formula GT etc) based on actual F1 cars, although that could be pushing their luck a bit.

I would oh so love for these to come back.

GT5 needs more racing cars, and more specifically, more historic racing cars. This is an aspect to GT5 that falls short compared to alot of other racing games.

Given the controversy and dissapointment expressed by GT gamers, I can only hope PD goes to the additional expense introduces ALOT more racing cars in the game in GT6, and even more hopefully, historic racing cars with their genuine livery.

without a doubt, I would pay for it 👍

I guess the way Ferrari runs their cars to clients we'll be able to have any of their cars from 1950-2011 (thats why we can use the F10 and F2007) which would be awesome but not anything I can see happening.

I'd love more F1 cars, but only when PD finally enable a limited steering rotation mode, something like 200 degrees. The 900 degrees of movement on my DFGT is simply not realistic, no F driver has to turn the wheel multiple times to take a hairpin, they simply don't have the time. We desperately need a 200 degrees maximum lock like in F1 2011, otherwise the loveliness of having the F1 cars available is completely ruined a it's near impossible to drive them and even if you can hack it it's not a realistic experience, which after all is the ultimate point here...

I don't think FOM has the rights to these beasts:

And before anybody says these are too slow, in 1937 the Auto Unions and Mercedes had 500hp-650HP, and reached 200MPH on tracks like Spa and Nurburgring. 500HP on skinny tires at Eau Rouge? Yes please!

Two words, YES PLEASE

Oh man. This would be AWESOME. The March 761, Hesketh 308 (just a March 731 in disguise), Mclaren M23, Ferarri 312T, Tyrrel P34; I want them all. Make it easy; just give us the whole lineup from the 1975-1976 seasons.

Personally, I want me some of this:

"I love motor racing. To me it's a sport, not a technical exercise. My deal Formula One car would be something like a McLaren M23 with a big normally aspirated engine, 800 hp, 21 inch rear tyres. A lot of people say we
should have narrower tires, but I don't agree because you need big tyres to slow you down when you spin. And you need a lot of horsepower to unstick big tyres, to make the cars slide. That would be a bloody fantastic spectacle, I can tell you. We would take corners one gear lower than we do now, and get the cars sideways."

- Gilles Villeneuve

Absolutely!!! Even some of the late 80's and early 90's F1 stuff would be great. So bloody much power and the complete lack of knowledge of downforce lol. If any of you ever get the chance to watch the documentary "Senna", DO IT. Watching the legend handle the abundant quantity of horses is truly epic. I love open wheel racing, and by the looks of the latest seasonal event/time trial, so does PD, they just need to embrace it.

AWWWW YEAH! we really need some classic F1's and some Turbo F1's in GT. EVEN if they were just fantasy cars i would definitely pay 10-15 bucks for a pack of about 10 models. all i would want with that is the ability to paint them and change their numbers.

The GT3 Formulas, would be great if they remodeled as a Premium Version, and I don't know whats going on with the licence of Old F1's, I remember that in the Formula One Championship Edition sometimes you got cars from 80's if you win some races I remember to drove an 80's Renault, so I guess that the developer with the licence is the only one who can use F1 cars from the ones of this Era to the old ones, from the exception of Ferrari which is the only team who posses the right of his own brand.

They can make Formula cars like they have been doing since GT3 the Formula Gran Turismo, don't understand why the haven't create a brand new Formula GT Premium version, with actual F1 specifications would be really good imagine to race with KERS and DRS....

I also remember how I made to get the Formula Gran Turismo car on GT4, the only way was winning the 24 H of Nurburgring, so I drove like the first 2 hours just to make sure the car was on the first place and with a big difference to second car, then I let the B-Spec pilot did his part drove the last 22 Hours LOL I got the car save the game and I let the PS2 to rest!! that was crazy I know but I was despeate to drive the Formula GT car...

Actually, that has been discussed in some other threads prior to GT5's release, but it would indeed be an awesome addition to the game.

Licensing shouldn't be a problem since FIA only holds the licensing rights for the last season ( or last two seasons... I'll research and provide references as soon as possible ).

Particularly, I believe that including classic F1 racers in a DLC pack would be an instant hit. The 1971 Lotus John Player Special and Senna's MP4 spring to mind as the most desirable examples.

From what I've found is PD (and Codemasters) would have to put it in to the contract of cars to use when given the license by groups like McLaren and Ferrari. I mean there are plenty of 80s and 90s Ferrari I'd like to see, especially the late 90s to mid 2000s

If they added the MP4/4 as DLC I would actually faint, that car is simply amazing.

I was thinking the same thing, I want that so bad! :D

There is no F686/S, I'm arfaid. :indiff:

F094/S- Schumacher's Benetton?

No - it's Senna's Williams - the deathtrap that killed him in San Marino 1994 GP. :)
