I just wanted to know how many of you guys actually make a mistake and hit the driver in front of you do you wait for them to recover or run like hell I wait cause if I have to hit that guy and race dirty to pass them then why am I even trying anyone could do that it take skills to overtake or avoid to get hit. And yes I know doing so well make u dirty regardless by gt standard but not mines
 
It's situational; if I'm not the direct cause (ie. someone divebombed me and my momentum divebombed another person), I gun it. If I'm the direct cause, I immediately serve any penalty I get as soon as I get an opportunity to get off the line; if he passes me back while I'm serving a penalty (90% sure they will, since any contact that results in the other car going off track is automatically at least a 5 second penalty, and with my DR A/S it usually increases to around 7-10 seconds before I find a decent place to slow down), then good. If they don't pass me while I was serving my penalty, I'll run at race pace again but will let them pass if they're behind me again

If it's random lobbies though I wait no matter what

Yes random lobbies I enjoy it and drive pass my limit but in sport I know where it's at keep it their
 
Depends on if people are directly behind you. I will always give back a place if i hit another car. I will give back a place later if i can't when i hit a racer.
 
It totally depends...

On Turn 8 of Streets of Willow Springs, I went two wide on the wide hairpin and I had the inside line. The outside driver gained an overlap lead but my front axle was up to the middle of his car so we're still two wide. Like clockwork he comes swinging in towards the apex like I don't exist.

Evasive maneuvers time, I pop the brake to focus the hit onto his rear panel and he pits himself sideways in front of me. Instead of going off of the course though, he counter steers and brakes before the impact so now I'm snow plowing his car sideways through the exit line. I was pissed off and just floored the gas dragging him several yards before his dumb car finally peeled off. 1 second penalty for me and he had to idle back for awhile so I'm assuming the system gave him a larger penalty for closing the door and ramming into me.

In another race.. I late braked and punted some poor guy into the wall at Sterling's Bend (Brands Hatch). I pulled my car over to the edge of the track off of the line, and waited for him to re-enter the track before following him again. Had we been in a narrow chicane or some other dangerous spot I probably would have cautiously moved on to avoid a pile up.
 
I sometimes give back my position. If it’s my fault, yes. If it’s their fault, nope.

You can’t expect me to give back his position when he keeps bumping into me, and eventually getting me off track and my reaction is to get quickly back on track making him spin out. No way, Sir. I didn’t get a penalty either. He did though. He went from S to E.
 
If you are 100% at fault, say you run clean into the back of them without any help, I say you should wait for them to re-join and/or give the place back. Others will say play to the games rules and drive on whether you get a penalty or not and pick the best time for you to serve it, if you even got one.

Be aware though when giving places back, some will just punt you anyway for "revenge" and many places on track are not suitable for this behaviour as you'll just cause other drivers to have problems too, as I've found out.

Yeah this has happened to me more than once. My method is to keep on until the next straight and then sit on half throttle (off the driving line) until they catch up.

Also very smart to use the indicators and hazards correctly,and of course positioning yourself outse the racing line while serving a penalty. Some people still don’t understand how these simple functions work, and might ram you (but not on purpose) when you’re slowing down, because they’re not aware. I had that happening a few times. A little bit annoying, especially if you get more penalties from doing "the right thing".

I recently saw someone use their indicators as something like communication devices. This guy I was drafting on the home straight of Dragon Trail in Race B indicated to the right. I thought he's gonna go there but he keeps to the left, so I indicated going to the right. Seems like it's what he wantes since he stopped the indicators
Into the turn, and he cuts my line onto the second chicane. I don't particularly mind since it's a fair move, but he turned his hazards on and let me pass. I turned my hazards in return as sort of a "thank you"

Those indicators aren't as useless as you thinl :)

Exactly :) I always use them properly and I hate it when people forget to turn them off.

And I remember some guys in here dissing me for wanting indicators. Look guys, I was right! Lol

Which brings up a great point, wether it was your fault or not, expect retaliation all of the time. Defensively this means keeping a rear overlap on their rear panel instead of running side by side. This way they'll punt themselves off of the course if they ram you (see video posted by Syntex123).

I can only speak for C class races, but typically driving straight while someone pits themselves off of your front fender will not result in a penalty for you. So if you can't pass on a griefer, just stick your nose in on a straight and let them do the magic on the turn.

Usually if I heavily shot off sombody I let them pass again, but only if the race previously was fair or non existant. If I was already raced dirty I just drive on.
If there are cars between me and the guy I wrecked I wait until he is behind me without any cars inbetween and let him pass 👍
