Buyer Beware - getting your better half Lumines equals daily routine out the window....

Very true! When I got my PSP, the only game I had was Lumines. Once my wife got ahold of it, I did not see my PSP until I got GTA:LCS. (honestly!)

If she even remotely liked Tetris, she will love Lumines. If you can take care of your stuff, you don't really need a hard case. Use the soft one that comes with it. You do need to get some kind of screen protector though. I forget what brand mine is but it was recommeded by (I think) Playstation Magazine. They reviewed 4 kinds and this came out as the best. I'll do an edit later to tell you what it is.

I can't recommend any games since I only have 2 as it is. I have to bribe my wife so I can play MY PSP :sly:

I'm bribing my wife with the PSP so I can play GT4 on the regular PS2!
I'll definitely pick up Lumines if I can find it.

I've used my PSP as an mp3 player (mp4 actually, but whatever) and it'll last me a good week and a half of music to and from school. It takes about half an hour to get there with the stops and all, and about fifteen minutes back so.... 6 days times half an hour plus 6 days of fifteen minutes is about...three hours plus 2 and a half more...so about five and a half hour with 20% charge left. Not bad.

I turn the screen off and usually have the volume at maximum which is sometimes painfully weak. It's not that the bus is loud it's just the music is BARELY too quiet for my taste. I always find myself trying to click it up one or two notches but can't.

BTW Lumines is evil. ANd I love it. :)

The stock sony earbuds have a resistor built in in order to limit the maximum volume they can give you. Try a different set of headphones. Also, keep in mind that really large headphones typically require an amplifier to sound loud from a portable device.

I have the Logitech headphones that were designed for the PSP. Very clear and the most comfortable headphones I've ever had. With the PSP, though, it still sounds quiet but when used with other devices it sounds just fine. In fact, I used it to play Doom3 on my brother's Xbox and man...it was just awesome!

I've noticed that some albums are louder than others when ripped and some albums are normalized better when ripped (you sometimes get that "jagged" sound when it's not normalized well and the music's loud). I'm not entirely sure why this is, but some albums just sound better when ripped to the same format.
