The story as I understand it:

Portugese developer buys large farm for the property; doesn't look inside large ugly barn since he'll probably tear it down anyway. Opens welded-shut doors and finds...

...this.

Approximately 180 European and American cars dating from the '30s to the mid-'70s, mostly complete and in decent repair. I'm guessing roughly $5 million sitting there waiting. Have fun!

Funny how someone could build up a collection such as that...one day die and lose all that (not sure if that was what happened)

One pirate's hidden treasure becomes another normal man's collection

Most look fairly restorable, this is a great addition to the classic car world. I know the way I worded that sounds ironic, but you have to see the angle I'm approaching this from.

they musta liked their italian and british sports cars :p well, most euro makes are represented :odd: i spy a bmw 501, and a marcos ooh and a peugeot 302! :dopey: them Coopers will be worth a fair mint :sly:

I would lean towards potentially priceless myself. There would be a few one-offs amongst that lot, and some that would be out of reach of 99.9% of the population.

The amazing thing for me, is how someone could have amassed such a collection, and noone knew about it! But could you imagine if he had been like most developers out there, who would have just bulldozed the joint without looking in the barn first?

Absolutely amazing. The shock of seeing all those cars must have been staggering.

I couldn't find it on snopes, or a quick google, so it seems reasonable enough.

   omg. talk about a gold mine. I imagine that the guy fainted, i know i probably would have.

he should sell his farm and buy a very secure warehouse with top top top security measures. I wouldn't sell any of those, maybe a few if i had like two others but the rest would be reserved for many a sunday drive.

Why is it that when others open old barn doors, they find priceless cars BUT when I open old barn doors, I find dirty fat rats smiling at me funny while they fill the place with crap!

That's because the rats know where they've hidden the cars! 💡

Judging by the rat/mice poop in the pictures, they're the ones that hid them there, or atleast were the only ones that knew about them until now. :scared:

I'm guessing that this post has spread around the automotive internet and their bandwidth is taking a hit.

Damn, I wanted to see it. Someone got the pics of those things in their internet cache?

Wow ... that's crap loads of classics
the original owner must spend lots of time to restore them

I'm willing to bet he didn't restore them, and just parked them the way they were in there. Theres a number of them with missing headlights and rust and such. But even then, it's still probably worth more, since it would all be original.

EDIT: Duke, you should probably change the thread title to let people know that there is more links. I'm sure a number of people would want to see them.

I think I saw one or two pics on autoblog a few days ago... but I'm interested in seeing the photos in these links (which, maddeningly, aren't showing up!).

I bet the corporation that bought the land will make an a$$load of money auctioning these things off... or, if the enthusiasts that show up at the auction agree on it ahead of time, a couple of dozen collectors will make off like bandits...
