Here are a couple of pants pics I took of the Burj Dubai. It was pretty impressive but tbh I was a bit disappointed, the time I went to Dubai the visibility was VERY low. Im sure when its finished or if its a clear day it will look spectacular. Also there are a lot of other tall buildings around, If it was somewhere else where there arnt any high rise buildings it would look massive already.
One of the taxi drivers were saying its a great investment, someone bought an apartment there 2 years ago for $1000000, hasnt done anything with it and its now worth $3000000. Also said something about all but one of the crane operators are brave enough to use the crane at the top and gets paid a huge amount of money.

Major kudos to the crane operators. I can't imagine what it would be like if someone made a mistake up there. :scared:

BTW, how was it there, Slick? Humid, hot? Nice people? All you hear about Dubai is either the money, the cars, or the construction.

A dude from my work just left as he's taken a job in Dubai. Video editing. And he's getting paid well, as you'd imagine.

How this for the next crazy building for Dubai!

Fantastic - A skyscraper lovers dream.

That thing is decidedly huge. Although it doesn't look all that big (used very relatively...) in the sketches until you put it up to the other buildings. Did I mention that it's pretty pointless too? But most of the rest of Dubai is too to some extent.

And I thought they had something like this on the books a while ago...

That concept is amazing, albeit an absolute constructional nightmare. It would suit Dubai perfectly.

What a fantastic-looking city. It's amazing how they can sustain such extreme growth without any economic problems (as of yet). Too bad they won't let me in for ten years until I get a new passport, what with the Israeli visa stamps on my current one :(.

I wonder if it'd be possible to see the curvature of the Earth from the top of the Burj Dubai :scared::dopey:.

It says "The Pinnacle", which seems to be a former name for the Al Burj in... you got it, DUBAI!

I think the windows are self cleaning i.e dirt doesnt stick to them or something. I saw a doc about it aages ago so I cant remember exactly.

Hi all.

The glass is not self cleaning ...

There is gonna be manned window washing platforms that are on telescopic arms that will extend out for the setbacks as the platforms are lowered. It will take 3 to 4 months to clean the entire 17 football field sized cladding.

Regarding the Burj Dubai windows.
