This is pretty good article for LCD v. Plasma. Of course you have to consider that everyone is a bit biased.

However, I am almost done persuing my masters in Visual Effects so I do want to give my 2 cents.

For GT4, I would go with a plasma because is it capable of more vibrant colours and contrast. Anyone can argue with me all they want, but the FACT remains that since every pixel on a plasma carries its own RGB value, it is much better at producing vibrant colors. LCD on the other hand gets its colors by subracting from the white light.

Also I would like to say that as of right now, I feel that Plasma has better contrast. That is not to say LCD isn't catching up, or hasn't caught up by now. But consider this very thought provocing point: Imagine if you had to choose if you could only see colors or b/w contrast for the rest of your life. If you could only see colours, you would be screwed, however, dogs can function perfectly in the world only being able to see in b/w = contrast. This has to do with the number of rods v. cones in the human eye. So please research contrast when purchasing a TV.

As far as interlacing goes, I can tell you first hand that I would personally choose a lower res, non-interlaced picture over a higher-res, interlaced picture, and that is with actual footage I shoot for my own projects. Interlacing destroys a picture if you are anal like me. Non-interlaced pictures hold up so much better than interlaced. Google 3:2 pulldown to find out how interlacing hurts video.

I would also like to say that personally, I feel that LCD is the future. I think in the long run, when technology gets pushed further, LCD will have fewer limitations, but if yyou have money to throw away, who cares. Not to mention the fact that Plasma screens can be made almost twice as abig as LCD's although this too is changing.

NOW... Plasma/LCD versus Front Projection. NO QUESTION. Go with Rear projection be it plasma or LCD. Don't get me wrong, front projection screens are cool, and huge, and make your room feel like a theatre, but as far as image quality goes. I am sorry, but light projected onto a white wall will NEVER be able to touch RGB independant pixel quality.

But whether some of my points are right or wrong: Go to an electronics store. If you tell them that you are intersted in forking our over $1000 bucks on a tv, they should let you hook up a ps2 in store. I don't recommend a crappy store like best buy/ curcuit city. If you can, try to find an independant retailer that specializes in high-end home theatre. If you are serious about your purchase, they should let you try out gt3 on every monitor in the store.

Good luck with your purchase.

Well all the LCD's that I have seen in stores look crap with any fast moving panning, they just get a horrible blur, where as the Plasma's don't have that and are nice and clear(not saying the LCD isn't clear, it is probably a crisper image). So imagine playing a racing game you would expect to get a lot more blur than should be expected in the game, and might just distract from the whole racing experience.....Just one man's opinion, as everyone has stated, not necessarily a correct or incorrect view.

The PAL version will have neither of those, there will be no progressive mode and no 1080i, just the standard PAL graphics.

Cheers,

wtf ? it's a joke I hope ?
I freakin bought a Plasma TV ONLY for this !!! and they will remove it ? I'm going to kill someone aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh !!!!

Personally, I look forward to playing this on my Pioneer PDP-4345HD 43" Plasma

I know that I have to be watchful about burn in, but the picture is fabulous. I didn't have a choice on DLP or anything because this is a small living room. I used to have front projection but frankly it did not provide the picture I really wanted.

My plan either way is to eventually play GT4 fulltime in a wide screen PC LCD and use the Plasma when company is over to play.

I hope your just being a fool in fun here, since buying a new Plasma TV just for GT4 is stupid.
