A sub-forum for Chit Chat ...

Suggested because of: http://forums.gtplanet.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5814

And my initial post: http://forums.gtplanet.net/showthread.php?postid=114981#post114981

Basically a place for the students here at GTP to help eachother out. I'm not currently a student, but I wouldn't mind helping guys with their homework. And it would be easier for them to tell their parents, "Uhh ... yeah I'm doing my homework. There's just race cars on the screen because ... the website dude is a car nut." See, it's a win / win situation (:

But it's not a place to ask for answers to questions, or trade report papers. It's just to get additional teaching, and maybe have someone proof read your assignments. Kind of like a tuitor. There are websites that do this already ... and maybe this just doesn't fit at GTP, but this tends to be a pretty young croud of guys that don't want to do their homework. This could be inspiring. I think spelling and grammar would be the biggest topics (:

A homework forum? Great idea! I'll add it when I get home... :)

I've actually had second thoughts. I don't know if it really fits the mentality of the site. I mean, maybe it does, but it would be so weird.

How about this (a suggestion in a suggestion), Jordan could host 'official polls' about creating new forums. That way he could see the responces it will get before he segments off a section of the boards for a spacific purpose.

BLAH!

1. I think it should come with a disclaimer, suppose a student has a math problem like: Zero to the zeroth power? (You could have several answers...people would debate it all day)

2. In that disclaimer, someone ought to mention that it's just help, and not verified by everyone. I guess subsequent posts would correct wrong answers, but it might take a day or two. For some, that's too late.

Just some random thoughts on the issue.

Yeah, homework is a touchy issue. I'll set up the forum a week or so and see how things work out. It could be great, or it could be a disaster... :)
