I have an honest question for all you Honda boys. Why are all the "rare" "special edition" Honda wheels so unbelievably ugly? I've had the conversation with owners before, and their justification always seems to be the rarity of the wheels. But is that because no one in their right minds would actually buy the things, or is there something else I'm missing?

I've seen them on a few cars, and from what I remember being told, they aren't cheap.

Well, they seem like a lightweight, high-strength design to me. and fair-sized, with low-profile rubber. Attractive...no...fast...probably...

and, yeah, rarity is a fair excuse, I suppose. I mean, guys doing resto work are getting obsessive about getting those rare OEM-style wheels.

That's what happens when the strive to be "JDM" goes too far. Although I think they are functional in some way other than just being something for the car to roll on.

I bet from a distance people could confuse them with those cheap chrome-like hubcaps sold at Murrays and elsewhere.

i agree they are not that attractive. but alot of people are about the names. that guys huge purchasing reason probly would have been the fact that they are authentic mugens.

THIS IS NOT A PHOTOSHOP.

Actually, while I agree that it is probably NOT a Photoshop, I don't think it's necessary to have gone to the length you describe. Rather than trying to painstakingly motion-blur the entire image in that kind of detail, it wouldn't be all that hard to take a picture of the moving car and lower it an inch or two.
His pose also indicates that he is driving.
If you define "driving" as "laying the stupid seat all the way back as if waiting for carside hooker service, and then perching on the edge and hanging off the steering wheel like a baboon", then yes, I guess his pose (quite an accurate word, there) indicates he is "driving".

The wheels on the blue eg hatchback are Mugen NR-10s. They are rare in that not many were made. The Mugen NR-10R is even rarer. Most popular japanese aftermarket wheels combine strength, light weight and increased brake cooling potential. I personally think most rather attractive.

So they've spent a lot of money to destroy the drivability and competition potential of their cars?
Tuning styles abound. There's OEM guys, Japanese OEM guys, show guys, show guys that have go parts but don't actually go, go guys that show, go guys that show off their battle scars, race cars...

Kinda like every other huge car groups out there. I'm more of a decent-looking, streetable performace car guy myself.

If you wanna see guys that really know how to slow a car down, go check all the slammed S2000s on Honda-Tech. I might post some later. It's ridiculous. As far as I'm concerned, the only mods a Stew needs are big sway bars and R-compound tires.

As far as Mugen wheels go, my favourites are still the ones on the yellow Civic - they seem to suit a lot of Honda shapes. Which I guess is the idea, but they're also clearly designed for performance and not just looks.

Personally I don't trust anyone who sits with a "gangsta lean" or anyone who sits too close to the wheel. Including the Queen. (Note - this photo is photoshopped...)

Now, wait...short people HAVE to sit close to the wheel. It's sitting way far back I have a problem with.

Then the seat back should be somewhere within 3 feet of your shoulders. The steering wheel is not meant to be a bodily support or a jungle gym. The muscles in your arms are meant to steer, not to prevent you from flopping backwards.

Definitely agreed there...I see WAY too many stupid apes driving around like that for some sort of image. Do they not realize how devolved they look? Seriously, it looks like the law of darwinism has reversed itsself.

Maybe they're conservatives.

The one's I find funny are the guys with the backwards hat who have their left hand on top of the wheel, and are leaning towards the right side of the car...almost in the middle of the vehicle.

Not bad, good ride height, Black on gold wheels, no huge rear wing...

I think we've got a winner. Not sure i'm all that crazy about the Honda Type-R rebadge, but it is done cleanly and correctly. 👍

According to him, it's a 2004 Honda Integra Type-R, not a rebadge. đź’ˇ

$5 says this is why there are no interior pics - it's LHD, not RHD. In other words, a well-executed rebadge.

If he gets us an exterior shot with the driver's side door open showing it's RHD, with a sign that says "JDM GTPlanet!" on the driver's seat, I'll offer an immediate, full, and humble apology for doubting him.

Which probably won't happen since he also said this in the other thread.
My most current vehicle (Stolen Last Month)

2004 Honda Integra Type R (DC5-R)

Wrong. If he shows us that I'll call him an idiot for converting his RSX to right-hand drive.

In the first pic you can sorta see the steering wheel. At least I think it's the wheel.

If I'm right then it's LHD.

I can see what you mean Loon, it does kind of look like a wheel on the left side (right side of the picture). Is the windshield tinted or is it just because of the rain and the other windows tinted that you cant see through the windshield?

I don't see why it matters.

Because as McLaren pointed out, he claimed it's a Honda Integra, but since they were never sold in the US as a Honda Integra (rather the Acura RSX), and since it appears to be a LHD, it is just a rebadge job (unless someone took the time to actually convert an Integra to LHD)

but why does that matter? I can tell its not a real JDM integra even without interior pics. Its still the same car though. Your argument is so trivial It makes me chuckle.

It matters because we frown severely at people who lie about what kind of car they have. Especially when they are easy to bust. Especially when they are so proud of what you call a "trivial point".
