Hey guys I'm fairly new to this site and no i haven't posted much. It Doesnt mean I haven't been reading. Yes I've read about the VTEC posts before and people say you can hear it in GT3. The truth is you can't. I've been around real VTEC motors, stock and monsters alike, and that's VTEC, not the garbage you guys portray it to be. Maybe yeah, the needle moves a little quicker, but I haven't really seen that either. But I actually wanna hear a real difference. I want to hear the vroooooooooom<VROOOOOOOOOOM part, and I've tried everything from the Del Sol to the S2000 LM Edition, and I'm still disappointed. I tried so hard to listen for them, but nothing. Do you guys know if we're actually gonna get a noticable difference both visually and soundwise? And don't flame cuz everything I've read is the same thing. Only answer if you're 100% sure the sound will be noticeable in GT4 and I mean really noticeable to the point of, "WOW, that's nice."

No one will be 100% sure until the game actually comes out.

Yeah I was just racing an ITR earlier today and noticed that I couldn't really hear the VTEC at all. Hopefully GT4 will change that. ;)

Maybe all the cars (after you modify them) have vtec killer cams
:)

Actually if you turn your speakers up kinda high, you can almost hear it. Lets hope that we can hear it really kick in in GT4.

the fact that the cars in GT3 were recorded while standing still is prolly why the VTEC is not really noticable....i tried the experiment in my friend's ITR and sitting still, it was noticable...but on the move...once that needle hit 6000....OMG i got scared! i think this problem will be rectified in GT4 since Kazunori-san is a perfectionist...and i hope the turbo sound is also fixed cuz the sounds in GT3 were a little disappointing...i wanna here that "WHOOSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSH" sound when it spools and the loud whistling when it's at full boost. My Eclipse used to make that sound and it scared people really bad when they'd race me...bout the same reaction as to my friend's VTEC!

I think engine and exhaust recording were done at a standstill partly because if it was recorded at speed, wind noise would ruin the sound quality. But then again that's what a dyno is for, isn't it? :D

the VTEC on our Accord isn't so noticable that it's scary, but you definitely feel, and definitely HEAR the change when the revs begin to skyrocket :D

in the gt4 prolouge game it is actually quite noticible the differences in car engine noises vetec is quite easily noticible. also i was nearly in tears when i found that my favourite car the subaru impreza sounds like a stock boxer should. the new subaru has headers of equal length and therefore like on the game sounds like any car.

Yeah Civic Si and ITR sound incredibly sick when the VTEC kicks in. They may not be that fast but they sure sound good! ;)

Not that fast?? Maybe compared to cars like the Evo VIII and Skyline but those little VTEC armed cars can SCOOT.

My Accord VTEC however, is as slow as a Volkswagen Touareg V6. (9.6 - 0-60mph)
 I know, it's sad. We own both of those :D

hey i had a '99 Eclipse GS-T and while it was still stock, i raced my friend with the ITR (stock at the time) on a straight 3/4 mile stretch of blacktop and i barely sqeezed out a win...i thought i had him until that VTEC came in and i jumped when i heard it...i forgot his car had it and i thought there was a smallblock V8 that had pulled up behind me at first :scared:

Yeah I remember on one occasion that my friend had the B16A3 with some serious work(can list but most people would get confused lol) done and he had the VTEC X-Over point @ 5400RPM and wow was that amazing. The rev limiter was @ 8900 so it was WHOA!! BTW people anyone with a VTEC motor needing tuning I can help out w/ that. We can talk about real VTEC all day, I know so much, lol. But back to the subject, to answer the other guy, I've tried both stock and maxed out cars so it's impossible they had Toda, Skunk2 or any other cam manufacturer's Killer Cams. I just doubt that KY spent much time on that part of the game. Maybe he figured not many people would care about the VTEC kicking in, they just wanted the speed. But I really hope he got around to adding the VTEC to a point where it's definitely noticeable this time. And yes the I'd love to hear a turbo @ full boost, especially @ 8000+RPM!!! I'd also like to hear the superchargers whining. I'd also like to see companies like Vortech, Procharger, Toda, Skunk2 and others with parts in the game, highly doubtful but it's a thought. But I'd LOVE to have VTEC in that game. If it's not, I'd be highly disappointed.

I've heard about this engine called the B20 Frankenstein, supposed to be a CR-V block with B18 parts and VTEC, not too sureon all of it. Anybody else know about it?

it would be nice if by the time GT5 comes out, PD would have researched extensivly on parts and would give accurate dynos and performance depending on what combo of parts you put on the car....like say u put on a GT28 or 14b turbo on a car...sorry im naming a lot of 'Clipse gear cuz im so damn partial to a well tuned 2nd gen...but performance would vary since the turbos pull thru different RPM ranges and depending on the amount of boost as well...

lol no but i'll bring it up with my friend...he just got his temps and is driving his rent's CRV...lol i could imagine him sitting at a light next to a rice boy revving his engine...vrooooom....vroooommm...VROOOOMMMMMM  :scared:

Yes, I've heard of the B20 "Frankenstein". It's actually more popular name would be the CR-VTEC Motor. And it doesnt always have to have the B18C1 or C5 head on it. It can also have any of the B16A1, A2, or A3 heads too. There's also another motor from the Integra LS thats a hybrid. It's called LS-VTEC. Similar to the B20A but using the B18A1 or B18B2 block with a B series head.

And I also would agree with MITSU-man lol. I understand you. What would be nice too is if you can put a BIG 16G on a 2nd Gen. But enough about that, VTEC people! VTEC, Lets keep it in the topic, whether it's real VTEC or not, it's ok but VTEC only, I dont wanna get shut down lol. Let's keep the thread alive!!! lol

Wouldn't that CR-V block coupled with VTEC and other parts traslate to "BIG" torque for a Honda? Not too often do you see that....

I love hybrid motors.....they're like the "mutts" of the engine world. :D

Yes it does add to the torque numbers because of the increased stroke from about 86-87mm to 99mm. REALLY big difference. About 12-20 lb.ft. of torque, not much but it makes a difference.

think about it....a VTEC all wheel drive suv....man that thing would be haulin'...i'd love to see it riding about 3 inches lower with some VOLK Racing rims and some custom Honda parts...can we say 11-13 second car... :odd:

I wanna see a Civic with a twin turbo V8. that would be funny and cool.

CR-V "Super-SUV"

"OH MY GOD MAN THAT FRIGGIN' CR-V IS KEEPIN U-......ER, PASSING US!!

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Its not possible with the stock CRV 4WD drivetrain. the stock drivetrain can only handle about 100HP. There are custom parts being made right now for 1 CRV.

Accords don't have H22's in stock form, they have F22's. If you dropped one in, you HAVE to go turbo with cams.

lol man i can't say anything anymore...only learn from u guys cuz i'm a turbo man and i know turbo engines...keep talking cuz i'm learning!!!! lol this can be considered an online car class :dunce:

Yeah I know my turbos too. Maybe I should change my name to Honda-something cuz I'm sure I'm the most knowlegeable one in here about Hondas. I'm about to start taking the Honda PACT program at Broward Community College over here in Florida lol.

BIG LAG= BAD

You might as well get sequential twin turbos on it just to boost until the big one kicks in. Cuz you're car is useless if you have a huge turbo but yet can't get it high enough in the RPM's fast enough to benefit from big boost. Think before you speak. Bigger isn't always better.
