It makes me wonder how Honda can get something like this so wrong when they've done it very well in the past. The last two generations of Accord Tourers in the UK have looked pretty cool (and the last-but-one pictured below was pretty cavernous too) and Honda even got the mini-MPV thing right with the Stream, especially the 07 version.

And of course, we get the FR-V in the UK too, with two rows of three seats:

But on the bright side, we don't get the Crosstour in the UK!

^ You guys are lucky. :(

-> And in between US and UK, they get this one:

- That Odyssey in GT4...

- And this new one...

^ Ignorant & arrogant American Honda DOES NOT LISTEN! Instead, development money gets wasted on the Crosstour and ZDX. ARGH!!

:banghead:

~> Thats it! I'm not letting go my old Ody:

The EU Accord Estate if you guys remember was the centrepiece for what was probably the greatest Honda advert ever.

I think it would be absolutely hilarious if every manufacturer riding BMW's... potential for success (did you know they are coming out with a 5 series sized version of the X6? The X6 is already 5 series sized!) ran into problems. There is an awful lot of these disgusting wagon-ish things coming out considering no one knows whether they will even sell.

Almost seems like the guy posting for Honda on that facebook page is really with us and is just trying to somewhat do his job...

Also here is some quick info on why this car might be the right fit for you.

1. Accord doesnt have 4WD.
2. CR-V desnt have V6
3. Lower than CR-V , higher than Accord.
4. More room than Accord.
5. More aggressive looks than Sedan Accord and some might a......gree coupe.
6. Comes with 18inch wheels.
7. Fog Lights Standard

1. Wouldn't that be a nice option to consider?
2. See 1.
3. So, better off-roading than a sedan, but worse than a small, heavily street-biased crossover? How about a high ground clearance option for the Accord?
4. An Accord wagon would have more room than Accord.
5. Uh..No. Especially that last part. Unless a mish-mash of lines counts as aggressive looks.
6. Oh shi- This is a must-buy.
7. See 6.

I guess for me, I see high-riding wagons coming in two forms. The Venza-like things, more suited to civilian duty than anything, or to cars like the Audi Allroad and Volvo XC70. This is neither. Which is why I'm having a hard time understanding it.

This thing is more like the 5-Series GT thing. It isn't really a wagon at all, but just a sedan with a coupe-ish, wagon-ish, sedan-ish roofline.

/Facepalm.

👎 I could say more but it would definitely violate the AUP. Definitely liking the X6 M better that I saw this weekend.

At least to me, the 5-series GT makes a little bit of sense. This just doesn't, whatsoever. If they just wanted to call it "the cheap ZDX," then I would nod my head in agreement and say "Yeah, okay," but I have no idea what Honda's intentions are with this car.

It defies Honda's philosophy of practicality. And to think, just a decade ago they thought up the Element, probably one of the most practical things, ever.

^ Unfortunately this is a failage, I'd rather roll with an Element any day than this monstrosity. :indiff:

The way I see it, it looks like they're trying to make a sedan with a little more cargo carrying room, for those who need the space of a wagon yet can't deal with the lameness awesomeness of an estate. Either that or it's mostly a styling exercise for those who want something a little more fancy but don't really care that it may not be as usable.

Honda and Acura designs have gone to hell lately. I only like the new Accord Sedan and the new TSX without that plate of a grill.

Nissan so far has got it right imo.

I was just about to type "at least Acura still sell the RSX, that's a great looking car" and then I realised they don't still sell the RSX :indiff: So apart from the TSX, Civic, Element and S2000, there's not a single good looking car in Honda USA's range. And even then, some would probably dispute the TSX and Element being good-looking...

^When you take out that stupid metal plate grill on the TSX that every Acura has now (ughh...) the vehicle looks much more aggressive and neat.

They butchered the TL. They should go to jail for that!

I'd add the Pilot and sometimes the Accord Coupe. I think the Pilot is pretty cool looking, and it just depends on the color and such of the Accord. Nothing wrong with the RDX or MDX either.

Would you really call them good looking cars though? There are much better lookers out there in those classes, in my eyes.

Are you joking? The MDX is the whole reason & start of the bottle-cap grill that has plagued the entire line.

Through MY2009, the MDX had some other variation on the grille that I think made the car look very good. But for 2010 they stuck the bottle opener on there and now it looks fughly.

I always love the way those things look in person. Even though it looks awful in that picture.

I'd generally agree, but at the same time, the Honda Accord Coupe is (overall) a pretty good-looking car. I think it depends more on trim and color than anything.

Although, of the big FWD coupes, the Altima (with revised styling) does look a little better.

I like it!

OK, I'm kidding. Wow, that's bad, and I was a big fan of Honda, at least until recently going car shopping and seeing what they're making now.

I feel like I went to see an old friend who was always ready to go, to have fun, but instead found that she's spent the last five years watching daytime TV and eating cheese puffs; all the zest for life is gone.

And what is it with most auto companies slapping massive badges on their cars? I think hip hop fashion has hit auto design.

Edit. Just for reference, I own one of these:

Agreed. There's nothing wrong with the front of the MDX. Yet when you go sticking it on every other car there is a problem.

The grill there in the picture is what caused the current hideousness. It's a "beak", and the only way to make that "beak" uglier, is create the current beak-grille on the current cars.
