When I search for a user, then find that user, I often would like to see his/her "specific" posts. Perhaps there is a way to do this, but the search system is not set up that way by default. When a member's list of posts comes up, I click on the link for the thread and it takes me to the thread's 1st post of sometimes hundreds of pages.

Could we please refine the "user post search" function so that when the thread link is clicked, we are actually brought to what we are searching for? Which are the specific posts from a specific user.

Perhaps, there is a way for me to set up the searching function by ticking or unticking boxes. But, when I am simply searching for a user's posts, that is what I should get by default. If I want a "thread that a user has posted in" search, let that be an option, not default.

Please don't beat me up, sometimes I can't see past my nose.

If you can find the thread in question in the Forum, click on the underlined "Replies" count. That'll open a pop-up window which tells you who has posted in that thread and how many times ("Posts"). Click on the number of posts a user has made and you'll be taken to Search Results page containing only their posts in that thread...

Ask the regular search function to return results as posts, not threads. Then you can go directly to the post you want in one click.

Wow, that's a lot of steps just to find the posts of a particular user :(

I count three. Which takes you from all 3 million posts, 100,000 threads and 120,000 members to just the posts in one thread by one member.

Maybe I don't quite understand your problem in finding posts by particular users or maybe its me having a 'girl look' rather than a 'boy look'
but why don't you just search for user posts directly from their profile. It shows their posts and you have the choice of clicking on the thread link or the actual post link. I was able to find all your posts by clickingyour user name above your avatar and then going to my posts. That was one click for me.

Dave, as Wenders pointed out, the best way to search for a user's post is to click on their name next to one of their posts, and then select "My Posts". This will show you all of the user's posts, with direct links to them inside of the context of their thread. You can also find this link on all user's profiles. Of course, if you prefer to type someone's name into the box on our advanced search page, just choose the 'Posts' option under the "Show Results As" field.
