Just wondering if anyone here collects horns.
And I mean actively collects like how some people collect paint.
I personally collect cars and some Chrome but not stuff like mattes.
All the horns sound the same to me :)

No, I have a lot because I have over 700cars but I haven't used any or listened to most of them. I have sent a few duplicates to my GTP account but I don't know why, I have no intention of ever using them.

Yes because I get them all the time.

The thing is, they just say generic names like "Horns 109" or something equally vague. What on Earth? How could I be bothered going through any of those trying to decide what type might fit a particular car? Probably the biggest waste of disc space in GT5. Absolute nonsense.

I installed a really meaty sounding horn to a Fiat 500 once. After this, the novelty wore off.

I guess it'd be more fun/less pointless when racing online - I've not done this though.

Well said... I would probably still not use them, but on occasion if I knew a particular car had a silly sounding horn I might want to use online, I could go find it easily. I'm not going to randomly play the entire collection to find it.

^^Nope^^... I found one that was really high pitched. Put it on my RAM 1500 and used it for being the christmas tree for online drag races... Horn, Horn, Flash!...

Wish i had button free on my wheel for the horn, I'd use it for the people holding me up ;)

I have some jolapy horn and it would sound as if some junker is coming up in your rearview.

There's horns in GT5?

j/k, I have a few and never used them on any vehicle. When I am cruising at 80-150mph, I don't have time to honk at someone in my way.

I'll take what's given to me in the normal course of things but it's not really inspired or developed enough logistically to warrant me going after "horn 362" with the same vigor that I pursue cars and occasionally paints with!

When I only had a few I enjoyed the novelty of finding a good, deep sounding horn to put on my cars, but no, not so much. Especially since there are no awesome novelty ones, which really sucks the wind from the sails of the whole concept...

Every times someone mentions horns and then a bunch of people mention how dumb horns are, I make it a point to mention that I like horns, and if you don't want your horns, send them to me. You will (eventually) receive something from me in return.
I'm on hols from the PS3 (and this forum and its whinging) but I'll be back at it wednesday.
Send Horns --> receive goodies.

Whinging?
What makes you think I'm whinging?

Not sure what you mean by collect, I get a horn every 10 cars, do you know what they all sound like? Are you looking for horn No. 456, or horn No. 213 apparently they are awsome, something like a police siren and fire engine.

Lol, I think horns are cool but the best sounding horn is the LFA '10 horn it sounds like stuart little.

I meant actively collect, as in how people collect cars, some people may keep buying cars just to get a horn number they want.
Or they may even trade for horns.

Do you get the horn number of the cars that you buy, dont think so unless all of my 400 cars only have 40 odd horn sounds between them.

Yes this! How are you supposed to know what sounds like what? Fit each and every one to a car and beep it? WTF? It would take a month, with 98% of that time spent in loading screens.

I have some questions.

-There is some guy that posted here that said he loves horns and to send them to him. Can anyone who knows of any cool sounding horns like tunes or retarted ones, please post the horn numbers here and a brief desciption here.

-The horns that come with stock cars, do they match their real life counterparts in terms of how they sound?

-Ocne you chance a car horn on a stock car, how are you supposed to know how to take it back to stock horn? You have to remember what car has what number?

You can test them in the "Items" menu, you don't have to fit them first, though I found it a little funky at times, like it was struggling to find the sound, or caching or something.

I do think it would be handy if more people could list the ones that are actually cool though, I gave up after a while, they mostly sounded pretty bad, like a recording of someone pressing a key on an 80s Casio keyboard.

If the horn from the Charger in the Dukes Of Hazard is in the game, then the horn feature is acquitted of all charges of being wasted space.

I only use horns for amusement. It seems like the lower the horn number, the cheesier it is.

Anyways, for amusement, I took one of the first horns I got, and put it on my Chevelle SS. Meep meep! It sounds so lame but I love it

Can you imagine entering an online racing and EVERYONE having a Dixie horn equipped? It would be sheer horror.

I second the demand for descriptions of more notable horns.

Also, the '97 Civic Type R seems to have a fairly loud horn. If anyone knows what number it is I'll be sure to keep a lookout for it.

I'm sorry but I have to add my 2 pence worth.....

What on earth is it with the horns thing? I've bought loads of new cars over the last week or so and I'm getting pretty sick & tired of getting that pop up after reaching 270 cars or whatever. 👎

It would have much prefered a better gift like tuning parts. 👍

It would be nicer if you got them along with paint when you acquired a car, as well as if there was something more descriptive than "Horn No. 62." I also didn't see any "return to stock" option(and no way to know which one the car comes with) although there may be one somewhere.

I looked through the ones I've picked up once or twice and there weren't any that sounded much meatier than the originals so I never bothered changing one. Some crazier ones like the Dixie horn might be fun(and wouldn't bother me online). I only ever use the horns for joking around online or harassing the Bots, so doesn't matter much to me anyway.

And they don't even bother getting the right colors for a lot of the cars, so I seriously doubt they have the horns researched to 100% accuracy. Some(I don't think all) race cars even have horns which is a bit hilarious.
