hahaha, that Fox Mustang on Volks is pretty cool. then again why not? it's as boxy as a Silvia/Skyline/whatever.

So, some nice hot rod picturers for the place least likely to hold them... but surfing around, it seems they have quite a big hot rod coverage too. Who knew?

Woodward. As many members have posted their pictures in it's own separate thread, I started looking for cool pics of the cruise in Flickr just to post here. Here is what I got:

This Deuce Roadster is interesting because it sports a 392 HEMI... but the new one!! take a look at the coil packs in the valve covers... awesome, because it has a roots blower boltd in. Intresting, indeed.

Resubscribed to this thread.
'Cruzin the Coast' is coming to us in just a couple of weeks to the Gulf Coast. Woot 👍

Just a quick request, wondering if people could thumbnail the bigger images in this thread instead of posting so many massive pics? I appreciate the effort that's gone into finding huge pictures but they're killing my connection even though I'm on 10mb/s... and I only have 10 posts per page or something...

Less moaning though, more posting.

One of the greatest magazine project cars I've ever seen. It's in Practical Performance Car magazine here in the UK. I've never really given it a look before because I'm not big on Rover SD1s and assumed it must just have been another V8 engine.

Only I was wrong. I read this month's issue a little closer.

Is that 2.7 litres? What? 27 litres?

rover-sd1-27-litre-v12d_vDKbs_3868.jpg

rover-sd1-27-litre-v12_ExHJz_3868.jpg

rover-sd1-27-litre-v12b_tBkzk_3868.jpg

rover-sd1-27-litre-v12c_roFcv_3868.jpg

:D

It's a Rolls Royce Meteor, 27-litre V12 aircraft engine. Makes more power and torque at tickover than the original V8 did at the red line  Idles at 400rpm... 1550lb/ft of torque at 1600rpm...

And according to PPC's brief piece on the car, it managed 15.8mpg on a recent trip to the Nurburgring, which is more than the original V8 would have got!

A few parody vids of the car. The first one is a Carlsberg ad parody, the second a Marks & Spencers advert one. Caution too on the second vid, language warning.

Please downsize your pictures. I've got high speed internet and it took forever for the download of the page. :grumpy:
And dang, I finally get an email response from this thread. 👍
Oh and nice pics once they were downloaded.

I'm going to be posting some pictures from our premier car event here on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi called 'Cruising the Coast'.
Enjoy the pictures and I'll be updating as the event unfolds.

Everything on that was flawless and those Foose wheels were  material all the way. 👍

Here's a few more I guess.

Seconded. '32 ford, lightly lowered, stock wheels...Injected (I think) Chrysler Hemi.

And it's beige. It's hard to call something like that a "sleeper," but that'd almost qualify, had it the hood sides.

Not a 32 and more importantly, not a Ford. That is why this is awesome. It is a 1934 Plymouth with a Desoto Firedome Hemi (not a Chrysler, believe it or not Chrysler, Dodge and DeSoto HEMIs were all different, nothing interchanges between them) with six Stromberg carburetors on a CUSTOM intake manifold... because the guy picked the hardest HEMI to Modify. If it was a Dodge Red Ram he could have found an aftermarket intake, probably from Thickstun, but Firedome? No way. The intake is hand made.

Outside, it is probably sporting even factory colours. Every piece of chrome trim is original altough it has been decrhomed a bit,but it still has most of the stuff that is traditionally shaved off intact. And yessss, stock wheels, which give it the absolute attitude of a stockish/sleeper car. If this thing had even steelies, the look would have been lost.

the guy is a genius.

This is what's going on in my garage now. Using the frame from one car to throw in another. Car is getting tubular trailing arms with bilstein/eibach suspension bits along with urethane mounts and bushings.

The frame is almost ready for paint once I get rid of the old shell to make room in the garage.

I still see alot of these being popular with the builders and that gold looks good on the car.
Nice project for sure.
Still say you should've kept the Suby to keep yourself amused with some 4 wheel drive shenanigans. :D

Thought I'd throw in a few more pictures from our Cruisin the Coast event this year. I need to upload the rest to the files so I can add them too.
Enjoy.

I did a triple-take when I saw the word "Firedome" on the valve covers. This person is indeed a hero.

No billet, no ratting, no visible signs of modernity.. This is definitely the best Hot Rod I've seen in a very long while.

Give this person the Ridler trophy. Now.

That blue Riviera is pretty cool.

Also, on that last rat rod... heck, it's hard to tell. The Body looks like a heavily cut model T but I'm not sure, it has tidbits here and there that tell me I ain't right. The grille, who knows... Chassis? ppfff

What the heck is it?

WAIT...

Does it have Miata bits underneath? 4-wheel independent suspension, RWD, Modern 4-cyl...Which, by the way, I'd love to hear running on those cacklers....

OOH! OOH! I KNOW! *jumps up and down rapidly*

It's a Ford engine(Focus...?), underneath, Volvo chassis(S60R), and the body Idon'tevenknow...

WAIT...

Winrar!

Knowing HFS that seems likely.

:sly:

This happened to the owner's Miata, so he turned it into what you see above:

Best handling 'rod ever?

Those wheels are so out of place it ain't funny.

Yeah, I think he's changing them though.

Original thread is here. Predictably, many of the die-hards don't like it one bit. Amusingly, some try and claim it's not really a rat-rod because it doesn't conform to rat-rodding's "rules". I'll let you all work out the irony of that one yourselves...

bleeegh but that is a Model T body or not? haha

And even so, I dont think it is the best handling rod ever, sure Miatas handle well but with the technology available lately, many many hot rods, and yes I said hot rods, no pro-touring/track muscle cars, no Cobra kit cars, are being built to haul ass.

In any way, it's quite cool. And I'll go right on to read the rat rod rules. I'll have a laugh.
