so i look around this site, random threads and such. I always happen to come across threads about problems like the game crashing, having to delete all files and restarting and the game freezing blah blah blah. And threads on these are quite common. I've had the game since in came out and i haven't come across a single issue like that, and I play a lot. I even use a lot of features that people say cause the problems (eg.Museum)
So yeah, whats causing all these problems?!

I think most people don't use the game "correctly".
Mashing buttons while something's loading, going into the XMB to answer/write messages while the game is loading etc. stuff which is too much for the limited RAM. I always wait until everything is loaded on-screen before I make the next action. Actually, GT5 is one of the very few games which never freezed on my sytem, even with it's constant connection to the internet.

I've had the game freeze on me twice, but that was in the first week before the updates. Never happened since then.

Taking jjaisli's advice... *Knocks on wood*

^^I agree, same here, I have no issue/s whatsoever since I purchased the game last year and I have been playing GT5 on a daily basis. Never did the game freeze or cease its operation and hopefully, am not looking forward for it to happen in the future :nervous:

*Knocks on wood* just in case

Ive had GT5 since November 23rd , and i only missed about 3 days which i haven't played it. Im 75% complete and use all the functions. PS3 is on about 1-3 hours every night from school or all day (Rarely)

NEVER HAD ONE PROBLEM , EVEN WHEN I CHANGED PS3 SYSTEM AND COPIED ALL 160GB OF DATA :)

Not sure why it happens could be people mashing on button before it loads or if online it could be PD servers . Up until 1.07 I would get a freeze once a day buyer afterwards maybe once a week and always while I'm online ! So who knows

It is not that common. Think about how many games were sold in the world TOTAL, and then how many threads you have read about "problems" that were not caused by the player.

Not that common anymore is it?

Watch the news for a few hours every day for a week.

Realize none of that has ever happened to you.

Most people have a problem grasping the laws of large numbers... when you start to involve a large sample size, uncommon events will start to occur regularly.

Look at it like this: Someone wins a large lottery every day somewhere in the world.

How often has that happened to you? Do you even know anyone who it has happened to? Even if you and everyone you know regularly buys lottery tickets the chances are answers to both questions are still no.

Also part of it is education on the issue: For instance using the museum was specifically an issue that broke peoples saves if you did it regularly enough to get your save file size up to a certain amount. It's not how often you used it, but how much data was cached as a result of using it AND that problem has now been resolved so it won't be happening anymore (hopefully).

My game works absolutely fine too.

I really doubt it has anything to do with that. The game should be able to handle the XMB while loading and pressing buttons has no effect if there are no options available. Only possible problem I see is if people shut down the console while it is saving.

I only had a few times staring at the "GT" logo while its loading / connecting to server. Nothing catastrophic. *knock on wood*

Let me fix that for you.

Just ran in to my friend at lunch who said he had to completely re-install after 1.07 because it would take over 20 minutes to get to the GT mode screen and then it would freeze whenever he tried to race. So it is happening. Thankfully not to me. Yet.

I have had the game lock up one time, and that was on release day when the servers were lacking to say the least. Aside from the occasional extra long load due to internet latency spikes its been clean sailing.

It should also be said that the main reason you see so many issue threads is because probably 95% (random figure) of people who have no issues are too busy enjoying the game to post that fact while 95% (random figure) of people who have issues come and post about it for the purpose of seeking help/complaining.

GT5 killed my poor, old 60GB model (RIP backwards compatability). Bought the new 320GB slim to replace it and everything is fine.

Screw you, wood.

Yep, the reason is that there are thousands of users on this forum, and all the ones who have a problem complain about it. That means that even with ten people complaining, it's still only ten out of ten thousand.

Plus I think you will find the problem is peoples individual PS3's not any fault of the game.

Since getting the internals on my 60gig fat boy replaced under warranty from YLOD DVDs that I thought were damaged turned out to play fine and it was the fault of the DVD laser assembly.

Everybody's PS3's are in a constant state of degradation so no surprise people experience issues at one time or another. Just happens that a lot of peoples PS3's are slowly dieing like a failing star at the time that they are playing this game.

If I remember correctly GT was very hard on the PS2 laser and is probably equally as hard now on the HDD.

If I try to play during the heat of the day my PS3 can be a little slower at doing things then playing at night when its cooler.

My PS3 has frozen maybe 3 times playing GT5? We are talking about constant and very heavy usage. So if anything funny is going on blame your own PS3 not the game. Same goes for people who think that lag is the fault of the game and not their ISP.

I have froze once and i have a slim, sometimes the ps3 is too hot to read the disk and just overloads, and the people that were having most of the problems have or had the fat ps3s so be careful if you have fatty or it will die from too much GT5

And the actual proverb is 'Touch wood, no good, touch iron, she'll be fine'.
Stop tempting fate people.
Sorry but this is wrong. The tradition of knocking wood goes back centuries and theres references to arabian cultures touching the wood of the Myrrh tree which gives off a sap which is anti-septic in nature.

There are also superstitious passages which talk of 'touching the wood of the ship' in nautical guides going back about a thousand years and more recently, Europe, where touching wood refers to the stake witches were burned on or the stake used to pierce the heart of a suspected vampire.

The reference Touch Iron comes from Tocar Ferro which is the Spanish equivalent.

It may have moved on from there in other cultures but the original saying is commonplace around the world. Touching wood is good for you....all I have to do is convince my wife.

Edit : The Spanish Tocar Paño is something completely different and not to be confused with Tocar Ferro.
