Hints? Ohhh you mean stickies.... Ya there's 3 or 4 of them above this thread.

i need a setup for fast acceleration and a fairly decent top speed? any hints??

Every car reacts differently, theres no really bog standard, one tune fits all out there. As said above, read the stickies or use the search function for the specific car you're looking for.

Cheers,

as said above, all cars are different, that being said, in general tunes are and are not. take it fox example, a GT-R tune, you notice the first 3 gears are for launching and smooth shifting while the last 3 are for pull, where as an ACR tune the 2, 3, and 4 gears are set for the smoothest shifting and best launch possible, while 5th and 6th are set for the maximum pull. now your wondering, how do i get my gears set for a good clean launch and then get a good pull? well first find out what your power band is explained in master shakes tuning guide for dummies. the hp and torque graphs explain that you want to continually be in the power band, even across the line. now your launch, you may want to look at your car, depending on what you have you need either a 1st gear or 2nd gear launch. generally speaking your launching gear will be all the way left, then your next few gears will go up after that, going closer and closer to the right until you hit your 5th and 6th gear, which are almost always all the way right.

Well... take you transmission and default it. Then set your final gear to its max. Set your top speed to its lowest. Set your 6th gear to its max (far right). Now, lower your final gear until the top speed is decent for the HP and weight of the car (500HP 1100kg: 220mph; 800HP 1200kg: 260mph). Now set 5th gear to far right, 4th gear to far right, 3rd gear to almost far right, 2nd halfway between 1st and 3rd gears, and leave 1st gear alone. Test it and if 1st gear bogs a bit then go back and set 1st gear slightly to the right (don't forget to adjust 2nd and 3rd gears a bit to compensate for your moving 1st gear, move them also a bit to the right). If 1st gear bounces off the rev limiter then do the opposite. Keep testing and eventually you will have it pretty decent.
