I think you have four choices with this or any car - change the characteristics of the car by adding horsepower or components (when possible), improve the handling of the car by adjustments to suspension, downforce, braking, etc., improving your driving skills through practice, and using a wheel instead of a stick controller. Sounds to me as if you're in competition with yourself to always improve your lap times - trying to better yourself instead of settling for good enough is great! Polling other drivers to see where your times fall in relation to others will give you a better idea of where you stand time-wise I would think.
