They're not generated by the site, if that's what you're wondering. You need to make the banners yourself in a graphics program, and then upload them through a file-hosting site like Tinypic.

A great way to learn about making your posts a certain way is to simply quote it and look at all the BB Code that was used. Experiment around by changing/adding/removing BB Tags, and see what happens via "Preview Post".
