Hi all, wondering how you set about doing these long races?

I've not done them yet but I've already thought up my method. I've got a race team together. :D
.
Me and 3 of my friends will take shifts (every hour or 2) and complete the race together, those not driving will be snacking themselves to death with 24 hours worth of grub. I can't wait because it should be great, also in terms of car i'm going to use, we are opting for the Audi R10 TDi.

How about you?

Does this mean you'll be doing it 4 times? One for each persons game save.

Well, out of the 3 friends who are doing it, only one owns GT and he is only at Level 27 at the moment, so for the meantime...no. However, the others have played every GT minus 5...they have an xBox. :)

I've been thinking of doing the exact same thing but haven't made arrangements yet. Sounds sweet!

Ive done 3x24hr Le-mans and 2x24hr nurburgring races all on my own, Each time averaging around 40hr to complete them using the pause feature. Also done 10x4 hr Nurburgring races, Yeh i know i need to get out more often.

I wish I had a second PS3 to run a 24 Hour endurance race on and another to use if I wanna play with my friends....

Anyway, tomorrow is a public holiday so I might start one as soon as I get home in a Stealth 787B and try and get one knocked.

I tried to complete the 24hr of Le Mans this weekend. Was with 5 friends most of the time. Two more joined in later. Two of them never heard of Gran Turismo and two more only a bit. We were switching when you needed to pit. So everybody did only about 6-8 laps in a row.

We were 120 laps in when we decided to go to sleep and only 2,5 laps behind which was pretty good considering the skill of most people:D

We wanted to get started again after the F1 race was over but the game got unpaused somehow. Think the controller fell or something fell on the controller. So we were too much laps down to still have a chance to win and decided to quit. Didn't have time to start over again but we had a lot of fun so I'm sure we will try it again after the summer.

I recommend it to everyone to get some mates together to do this. It's great to do.

How do you not hear of GRan turismo. My mom who is 63, never owned a PC or played a game in her life has even at least heard of it..........

I'm not going to do them until they implement some saving feature ala Fallout where you can save anywhere and pickup where you left off.

Will never be added so I guess you will never do them.

PD has indicated that this is on their development list of things to add to GT5. I did the Tskukba 9 hour but I will not attempt the 24 hour races until an in race save is available. I don't want to invest the time and effort and lose it because of a power surge or a PS3 glitch.

Its not worth destroying your console to game for 24hrs solid, well more as said above (40hrs) for a prize car you can buy and a trophy.

We will be doing 24hrs solid though, after all...that's the fun part. Especially when the drinks come out. 👍

I'll wait for a save feature, if one doesn't show up, I'll just not bother, same as GT4 and I didn't even have a child to look after back then. I don't have time for the 4 hour races these days. <cue violins>

I think they only thing they have said that they were going to do was championship saves not endurance race saves.

Not doing them until this feature is added, if they ever do.

Le Mans: 24 hours nonstop with me driving 13 hours and my little brother 4. The rest was parking time (X1).

Nurburgring: All by myself. Left the PS3 on for like 4 days and drove big 5-7h stints and paused the game while not driving (Stock Peugeot 908).

Didnt do for the prize car [already had it] and your missing the best race of the game the 24 nurburgring its awsome.

I did both alone, driving a couple hours at a time once or twice a day. I've seen many posts concerning leaving PS3 on for so long, I leave a small cooling fan on and keep it free of dust, pretty sure I have set a record - 8 days to do the Nurburgring!

I think PD have thought about heating issues before implementing such a race.

Besides, if the PS2 can do it, why not the PS3?

^same here

a bit off topic

I am not a programmer or anything but IMO it would be easier and MORE realistic if they make it possible to share the race with 3 bobs.

Mines been on since January 3rd and only off for brief moments since for crashes/bug that still the system. Any one of the smaller PS3's should be fine.

Meh I just raced Le mans 5 hours a day for about 4-5 days.

Pretty monotonous in the end but racing through the sunset/night and sunrise was nice.

I had a launch PS2 and played it a lot, no problems whatsoever but I had to replace the BR drive in my PS3 at the start of the year which I've had since '07.

The PS2 is less complicated and less complicated things seem to last longer as there is less to go wrong.

I'm waiting for a patch that either allows the use of the B-Specs BOB Brothers or that allows you to save and continue...

See that's what I'm talking about. Everyone complains about how it takes so long etc, but no just take the bad situation and look how to turn it into a positive. Driving for that long taking shifts is awesome.

My friends are old, like me, with their own hobbies, like me. Maybe I will try my nephew...

👍 I'm so excited, hell, one of my mates is taking the day off work to participate.
