I don't really know why there are 2 clutches in some cars like this GTR

Quick dodgy explaination:

Each clutch controls one set of gears, one clutch controls 1st,3rd,5th the other clutch 2nd,4th,6th. as one clutch has say 2nd gear engaged, other clutch will get the next gear ready (third) (when the computer guesses when you will want to shift) for a very quick change over when you flick the paddle.

I see :) Great explanation.
So technically you can Set it up to have 3 clutches HAHAH
or 6 for each gear

But it would cost like a million bucks?

Thanks for explaining, Now i know why it shifts faster.

If you attempt to shift on a car that does use a clutch, without using the clutch will the car shift the gear or will it continue to redline until you shift properly; using the clutch?

Actually the Nissan GTR has two clutches, though controlled by computer, not human. :)

Gotta love that DSG gearbox, Bughatti use it in the Veyron, Volkswagen make it available as an option on the Golf and Passat-so too does Audi- Mittsubishi and Nissan have Licenced it for GT-R and EVO, Porsche used it years ago for Racing. Its actually a Manual Gearbox with two electronically controlled automatic clutches. Output shaft from 1-3-5 cluster to first clutch is hollow and output shaft from 2-4-6 cluster to second clutch runs inside it. You get a T-Bar auto style stick shift that gates to the side for + or - changes and or wheel mounted paddle shifts.l

I have been having trouble with getting my G25 clutch activated, thanks for the help here guys, I need to press the top Triangle button at the pre race screen (at the START prompt) every race to get it working!

Thanks

DSG is definitely the way of the future. Super-fast shifts FTW, Screw lightweight flywheels :yuck: lol (even though I love mine)

To those that have changed the button assignments, for the the triangle button is mapped to the "reverse" button. So find where the reverse button is allocated and use that to engage the clutch at the start of every race. Eg. Circle button says 'reverse' in the button assigning menu then at the start of each race press the circle button to engage it.

I want to try posting this here before I post a new thread about it.

But anyway, I have a G25, and am loving the shifter. Buut, how do I switch over to use the paddles for shifting for when I drive the GT-R or new Evo or the F2007 or something? Thanka.

Turn the dial on the shifter to select sequential mode instead of h-gate.
