Anyone know how I can improve the graphics and stop the flickering? It's actually really putting me off driving. It seems to be worse than in GT5 and added to the screen tear and slow down and pop up it's too much.

I mean by changing setting like PNR on my TV or some of the other settings on the PS3 and in game. Is there a combination of brightness, sharpness and contrast and stuff that works best? What combination works best?

I'm thinking that maybe because I have the disk version and it needs to install stuff every time I go onto a track it might be using up too much juice and making the quality crap.

I know what you mean, the white lines on certain tracks like Brands keep flickering on & off. Madrid looked awesome in GT5, but in GT6 it's a flicker fest! It's down to PD using less processing power on anti aliasing, so that they can use it in other areas.

The only thing I find that helps is when the time transition is on, at certain points (dusk etc) it looks better. But that's not much help when playing the game as a whole. Hopefully the situation will gradually improve via updates as they optimize the games coding.

What other areas lol.

Yeah I've noticed that some times improve it.

Maybe GT6 is like the McLaren MP428 in that they had to take a step backwards in order to go further forward in the future?

Hope a major update comes soon.

In addition to flicker and jaggies, I'm also getting choppy framerates. I clear the GT6 game online cache and the PS3 (slim) web browser cache almost every time, and the PS3 slim HDD has 28GB free space. My Samsung LED HDTV is only 1 year old, it's 1080 capable and I'm using a high-quality HDMI cable. What could the problem be? Should I change any of the graphics or display settings on the PS3 or my HDTV? I just don't want to mess with anything that's going to make the problem worse, because I might not remember what setting I changed, or from A to B (or C or D) within that setting. Thanks.

Have you tried running in 720P

No. Is that a game setting or a TV setting, or do both need to be changed at the same time?

On PS3 Xmb go to settings then display make you use 720p instead of 1080i or 1080p. In the game on display select sharpness. I use these settings.

OK I will try those settings. Thank you.

I've tried on 3 different generations of PS3 on different HD tellys. First one was the first of the slims on a 720p small tv which looked flat as hell and I thought I can't wait to get this on something decent, and that maybe the machine was rubbish.

Second try was on the newest slim machine on a very good Sony HD tv which usually makes everything look good, especially films. It initially looked bad but I thought maybe I could fiddle with tin tv settings but no luck. Then I thought it was the slim PS3 so couldn't wait to get it on my big old machine on my bigger HD Panasonic 42 inch tv which I sit farther away from.

Still looks terrible and runs horrible. I reckon about 2 thirds of the time I'm getting some sort of slow down, flicker, screen tear or pop up, or combination of them.

Going 720p just sounds crazy but I'm going to try it along with turning the contrast down which someone suggested in a different thread.

I tried to take back GT6 to asda today but they wouldn't take it back because the plastic wrapping was off.

I know it's not long since it has been released and there is hope of a fix, but if there isn't one soon all of us that aren't happy about it should get together and do something about it. It reminds me of Apple with their imac from around 2006... Which was found out to be faulty years later but only a few people got their money back because they took so long to complain. But if we made it known straight away maybe Sony would take note. The game plays nothing like it was advertised to play like. It's like a Codemasters game.

What's "shuffle"?
sorry for the double post, dunno why it's done that

It's cool I usually need to be asked more than twice for some things lol. Shuffle was a mode online where you set the PP then each person gets a random car in that PP. No tuning was allowed, so all cars were stock. It was totally cool and really tested cars and the driver.

There is a flicker reduction modein GT6 under settings->display.

I did try this but it seemed to make the screen tear worse.

Don't really understand why the option is there in the first place. If it is supposed to make the game look better it should be integrated as standard.

On a positive note I turned down the contrast, turned up the brightness, turned down the sharpness and put noise reduction on full. It has helped with flicker but now it has the sharpness of a 17th century oil painting. More like pastel actually.

Sky HD channels are now Sky SD.

OK I tried this last night and the result is a smoother running game with slightly reduced graphics quality. I can live with this since the reduction in visual sharpness is less important to me than getting rid of that annoying stutter. But it's sad this is necessary (at least on my setup) to get things to run better. *sigh* Let's hope for some updates that will fix this. Still having fun with the game :)
