Once you load it and race it you can save it. Once you save it you can then go back to GT Life and watch it. I don't remember the exact steps off the top of my head.
Save the replay from the event leaderboard and then go back into the replay theater and watch them. You can also save multiple replays without needing to jump back and forth between the Academy event menu and the replay theater.
