Hi

I have a Yamaha RXV667 Receiver and the speakers cables are connected at the back using Banana plugs, I can't pull the Speaker cables out of the Ports. How do i pull the cables out?

Any help will be more than welcome.

Thanks.

You just pull the plug out. If they don't go out, they are either stuck, or not banana plugs.

I have tried pulling them out, but it don't budge, i tried unscrewing the cap for Bare wire installation but that does not help. I think it might be stuck, I don't have warranty on my Receiver so i don't want to damage it in the process.

Oh well looks like i'll have to leave it.

Banana plugs do require more force than most other plugin-type connectors. Try a little harder but be sure you're pulling on the plug itself not the wire, unless you want experience with changing/reattaching banana plugs.

Ta-da, banana plugs!

Couldn't have googled that yourself, Grayfox?

I'm aware of that, you banana plug. :P

How would you even see the plug if it's stuck in the female connector, let alone take a picture?

The innuendo in here..

You may need to unscrew and pull.

And I thought he was talking about those curved spring clips.

You may need to unscrew and pull.

I don't think Yamaha uses that type of binding post, but, certainly try this first.

What you'll need to do is hold the actual binding post connector with one hand, and pull on the banana plug with the other. If you pull on just the plug, you can break the binding post. You can also use a small pry bar, like what you would use to remove trim pieces in a car.

You may also want to spray some silicone lubricant around where the plug meets the binding post before you start pulling on it.

It sounds like some cheap quality plugs were used that were manufactured way to large for the binding post.

sorry about the delayed reply guys, i've been really busy trying to finish some college assignments. Anyway the banna plugs are just like the ones AOS had mentioned.

I'm going to try and unscrew the binding post first and then let you guy's know what happens.

thanks for the help.

here is a quick picture of the banana plugs at the moment, the orange arrow indicates the cable that i tried to remove but the plastic casing was sliding off, hence why it looks different to the others.

I did the YPAO test again to check if i had damaged the wires in the process but all speakers are working fine.
