I'm being proactive here. I did not actually lose a game...yet. (fingers crossed) but the other day I finally started gettin in the habit of backing-up my game saves onto a USB.

But let's say I did lose one of my game saves. How do I get that save that's on the USB? I was messing around with the PS3 system last night, and it allowed me to VIEW my backed-up save, but there's no option to retrieve this info, none that I can see, anyways.

I did notice that if I fired up GT5 and went into options, I did find a path that goes like this...

Options > something (I'm forgetting what the icon said; it's at the bottom of the Options page) > Salvage Files

I click on "Salvage Files" but it says I can't do that. Does my game save actually need to be lost first for this option to work?

I'm trying to run a fire drill "just in case" here, and I want to have the entire strategy down before the inevitable happens.

I've never done it but if I remember what I read you have to insert the flash drive, go to saved game data, open flash drive and paste the gt5 one. If you dont have any other gt5 files in there your finished and can start game. If you had a old gt5 save in there and are replacing it with the new one you saved, it will ask you if you want to override your old data, or something along them lines, hit yes, then proceed to open game.

You're overcomplicating.

Restoring a backup is nearly identical to making the backup in the first place. Put a USB drive in the PS3, using the PS3 XMB browser go to Game, up to Save Data Utility and highlight the GT5 save. Press Triangle, select copy and choose USB as your destination. To restore, in Save Data Utility go to the USB drive, highlight the gamesave and press Triangle to copy it to HDD.

I'm pretty sure I was clicking on the game save last nite like you said (the save that's on the USB), and then tried seeing if it would let me load that save, but it wasn't letting me do anything with that save except view it. I'll try again today when I get home from work I guess.

Thanks

Once you have the save selected, just hit triange, then copy, it will ask to overwrite the current file, just hit yes, if thats what you want to do.

Just got this to work...thanks guys.

...I swear last night I'm sitting there clicking on the game data with the X. Clicking over it with the triangle. It wasn't doing anything. Now it asks me if I want to Copy this data, just like you guys mentioned. Again, thanks.
