Then either select an avatar or alternatively upload your own using the browse button at the bottom. (Pay particular attention to the size constraints listed)

However, note that an avatar is NOT automatically the same as a profile picture. Avatars are shown in each post, at left. Your profile picture is only on your profile page and can be larger. You edit that by clicking the My GTPlanet link at top right, then Edit Profile Picture from the menu at the left of that page.
