how do you duplicate cars?

I see everyone saying on the trading forum that they are duplicating cars, so that everyone can have one. How do they do this?

@euros only: I though that they had patched putting your save file on another file.

I guess you just create another profile on PS3 save game data onto flash drive then load it onto another profile which you created and start the game there and youll have another profile which is exactly like your other one. Then you can give cars from one profile with out affecting the other one's garage.

They asked Santa, in a letter that starts like this :

Dear Santa,
I've been a good kid this year, for this xmas I would love a copy of GT5 (If it's not delayed again) and while your at it, gimme a bigger brain, so I will understand the full potential of copy-pasting my save data ...

That doesn't work.

Duping...

1. Create a 2nd PSN account
2. Load GT5 on that account (you will need to set up your profile and buy a car, nothing else)
3. Send a PSN friends request to your main account
4. Go to your main account and copy your game save to a USB
5. While there, accept the friends request from your 2nd account
6. Boot the game
7. Send the car to your 2nd account via the gifting process
8. Quit the game, switch to your 2nd account and load the game
9. Your 2nd account will now have the car gifted from your main account
10. Send the car back to your main account via the gifting process
11. Quit the game and switch to your main account (do not boot the game)
12. Copy the game save on the USB back on to your PS3 (it will tell you there's a file with the same name and ask you if you want to over write it... click 'yes')
13. Boot the game
14. you will now have your original game save with the car and also have a gift of the same car from your 2nd account

Or you can just save your current file to usb, send a car, quit game and copy the save back to ps3.
You'll still have your car.

Dodge Challanger '70
- add the racing modification from GT Auto
- Add all upgrades
- Extend the gearing to suit
👍

Sorry but the guy above you is 100% CORRECT!!!

Setup another USER on your PS3 System... Copy your saved data to ''USER 2'' then do what you need to do ie send the car to a friend or buy a car and send to a friend.

Delete the data and go across to ''USER 2'' and copy the data to ''USER 1''

You will now have all your money and/or still have you're original car you started with.

It is easier to use a USB drive as this means not having to change Users or even signing out of PSN..

NOTE: YOU MUST NOT USE THE SAVED DATA ON USER 2 AS IT WILL OVERWRITE WITH A NEW GAME SAVE!!

You'll still have your car.

On the plus side, this does create a duplicate of that car. On the down side, you're still out however many credits you spent on buying it. If one wants to get the car for free, without losing any credits, they need to backup their save before buying the car, send the car, restore to get their credits back but without having the car, and have the car sent back to them. You can still duplicate the car this way, too, because the other player receiving the car the first time can duplicate it as described in the quoted post.

For example, a buddy (I'll call him Button) had a white-and-blue Formula GT show up in his OCD. I wanted it for my collection (getting one of each color) and Button wanted it as well. Button backed up his save before buying it, sent it to me, and restored his save which got him his 5 million credits back but without having the FGT. I received the FGT, backed up my save, sent the FGT back to Button, and restored my save with the FGT still in my garage. We both got the white-and-blue FGT and nobody lost any credits for it.

I'll say, though, that I'm not actually encouraging doing this sort of thing, but I leave that up to the individual player. It seems that a huge chunk of the GT5 community has done this to some extent, so fighting the whole duping thing is basically a battle that can't be won. Button held out until here this past week and figured if everybody else is doing it he might as well, too.

Ive just done all these stages but then on number 12 do i go on memory card utility then USB because I done that and it just says there is no data. Could someone help please?
If it's been patched could you please tell me.:dunce:.

Ok, well you're overcomplicating it if that's all you want to do :)

1: Save your main game save to your usb stick.
2: Start GT5 and send the car.
3: Quit GT5, delete your main save and copy the USB save back to the PS3. (or you could overwrite. It doesn't matter.)

You still have your car and you're done :)

Or you could make a new account and follow the above steps, only this time send the car to your other account.

Is that also the point of everyone having different 'slots'? I never understood that.

One quick question:I saved to usb my secondary account data, then proceeded in buying an expensive race car and sent it to my main account. Now that i go back to the usb to choose copy,so i can restore my ''pre race car buy'' data, the usb only says ''information'' when i press the triangle and doesn't even have the option of copy?Any ideas on what is wrong?

You need to press X to enter the usb before you can choose options.
