How do you Lauch a Club Race Event?

This past Saturday and Sunday I wanted to sponsor a club race.
I invited friends and saw six entries. When it came time for the race, I was not able to spawn the even.

What am I doing wrong? Should I have to do anything other than look for the race in the on-line room?
Need help with this one.

When the event is opened as per start time, you or 1 of your friends must still create another room. Click on the event & then click on the green orb. Whoever creates that room will be host.

And I taking it that room must be created in the "Club Events" menu and not in the open lobby?

Yes, if it's friends only. I'm not sure about an open event as I only create events for friends & my club members.
 
Apparently (according to Zkippe), once your in a "Club Event" lobby, you can't change any of the room settings. Which renders the whole thing pointless.
