How do you learn new tracks?

Do a slow lap around the circuit and look for braking reference points, cambers/kerbs you want to take advantage of, and other features of the track, and then some nearly full pace laps making sure to hit those marks, and build up speed as you build muscle memory.

Here's an example of the first process for Bathurst, not in GT7 but it applies nearly equally.
 
Like a lot of others have said, the Circuit Experience is very good. I like to attempt each sector until I've gotten Gold, then beat that Gold time with a faster one or even try to beat the Demonstration ghost.
 
First start of with the circuit experience, ones you gold it all there will prob be a time trial soon on it, and you realise you don't know the track at all cause the aliens are 4 seconds faster than your gold time :lol:
 
Here's what I do, if it helps: full throttle the whole way round because I'm an optimist, crash everywhere. Accept this does not work and use brakes a little bit, crash everywhere again but at slightly lower speeds. Continue until no crashes. :D

Ok I accept this isn't necessarily optimal, but I can't help myself...
 
Personally I take a stock car which I like to drive, Alfa 4C for example and I take it all nice and slow, learning my own lines.

Once done I then hit circuit experience and speed up my laps till I beat the times within my own ability.
 
Learning new circuits/combos are the prime time for me to use the derided gear indicator.

Usually, the icon starts to flicker through a conservative braking zone. Gradually, after a few laps, you start to learn how long you can let it flicker before you need to brake.

I see you too are a disciple of the Colin Mcrae school of driving.

I load up a fast ghost, go full throttle in to the first wall, then the second, third etc. Rinse and repeat until a full lap is completed.
 
I can do the full super formula race at fuji 80+ times but I can't stand to try the circuit experience more than 3 times ._.
For me it's repeating the race until I develop "muscle memory" and don't think about where to break/turn/accelerate anymore :D
 
At this point in time it's finding braking markers.

If it's a completely new one gear selection and apex speeds of the demo ghost and then I work my braking closer and closer to them

For someone completely new to the game or maybe still trying to find bigger chunks of time I'd recommend the following:

1. CE for the track - do a pretend CE of it in reverse as well as in sport mode these reverse layouts pop up.

2. Do a single player time trial in something slow, and I mean slow. 208, Fiat 500, Clio RS on Sports Hards - this teaches you the lines at a slower pace in an understeer biased car

3. Race the AI but handicap yourself. The aim is to keep up not win. Learn to move the car around in to braking zones, adjusting to other cars and finding the second deeper line out of a corner.

4. And this is the biggest, relax and slow everything down.

Never be panic braking, it means you are tense and it's not a smooth lap. Try to make driving the circuit a flow. Laps help with this as you get more comfortable.

But it's really important to take a step back, brake earlier and let the car and you flow.

5. Raise your vision. Raise your vision. Raise your bloody vision! Look at the exit never the apex. Look as far down the track as you can, even if that is 3 corners ahead. You will instinctively get faster entering and exiting the corners. Raise your vision and look as far as you can where you want to be.

Regardless if it's a new track or not these are the things I use to help me. Good luck dude 👍
 
I drive fast, after hitting the walls enough time you learn where to brake at. Of course, this only applies to video games and not to real life. ;)
 
1. slow lap to even know how corners go
2. Mark braking zones ( part 1 )
3. Mark minimal brake point where brakes are on edge ( part 2 ) ( going fastest possible around corner )
4. push like hell around lap ( tt laps , killing you previous delta time )
5. SLEEP , REPEAT
