in every single FIA race i wear my tyres much faster than anybody else and i'm scratching my head wondering why .....how do you keep going fast without destroying your tyres??
Run at a slightly slower pace than your qualifying, say about 80-90% of your qualifying pace, depending on how fast your opponents are. If you're battling other people, try not to engage in braking battles. Overcooking your apex takes a huge toll on your tires, even if you don't spin out or get to the grass. Instead try and get that faster exit.
And then there's the general advice of smooth driving. Slow pedal and wheel inputs; abrupt changes in the balance of the car is also a toll on the wheels
slow in- fast out. ease slowly on and off the throttle and brakes. try to reduce steering angle in corners as much as possible. listen for tire squeal and avoid it
