I'm sure you're all well aware that Assetto Corsa has several boatloads of content floating around the internet. For the more OCD-inclined of us, we take a lot of time polishing our copies of Content Manager to look as spiffy as possible. This of course involves taking the time to organize the heaps of content into groups a-la GRiD or Project CARS. Since the game doesn't use these filters by default, many people are stuck having to decide where the heck to put some cars they come across. That's where this thread comes in. I'd like to see what people have done to organize their content, what controversial groupings people have made, what ways they use tags etc.

For example, here's my LMP2 group. To post stuff in this thread, just screengrab what you have and post it here.

lmp2.png

I'm hoping people can use this thread to ask questions about where to put certain cars, give inspiration for making new groupings other may not have tried before and so on. You don't just have to post pictures and there can be open discussion.

I think the only rule for this thread is to please don't ask for mods, we have an entire thread dedicated to that already and I'd hate for this conversation to devolve into another wishlist thread.

I might be a complete dumbass but how do you group your cars together like that??

Forgive the crudeness but here's a quick tutorial:

Here on Content Manager within your Content > Cars menu is where you find your tags

groups.png

By deleting/renaming tags, you can group cars together much easier in order to make groups of specific cars. What these groups represent is up to you, you can sort by JDM, Muscle, Race etc. or you can use it like I do and create car classes a-la Project CARS 2. Cars can have an unlimited number of tags.

Once you give a series of cars in your content folder a specific tag, go to your Drive > Select Car > Tags menu to view the tags you are currently using. Select a tag to view what cars have been grouped together using said tag.

For example, here is my "GT1/90" tag:

groups2.png

If you have the time, I recommend deleting all the tags in the game and only keeping the tags that let you class each car by racing series, this allows you to quickly access any racing series in the Drive menu whenever you want. Unfortunately manually deleting all the tags on each car takes a while.

Basically the whole point of this thread is I wanted to see how other people have been using their tags and what groups I could possibly be missing or could have put together better.

Awesome thanks mate. I just couldn't figure it out and was getting tired of clicking things in the hope that it was hidden away somewhere lol. Using tags makes plenty of sense though as it's a quick way of doing things.
I've actually just been grouping cars by making presets so I just load up a saved preset but it doesn't show the other cars like your way does.
I'll be sure to post a screen shot in here if I find another way to sort cars and tracks out.

I will have a lot of work to do, because I have a lot of classes.:nervous:

Here is my first one.

Interesting. I've just recently begun putting together a similar class I've called "Track Day Lightweights", although it's nowhere near as comprehensive as yours at the moment. Interesting choice of putting the Vuhl in there, I opted to put that car in my street categories instead. I wonder if the BAC Mono would fit in your class there well.

Here is my current Track Day Lightweights class for comparison:

track day lightweights.png

I'd like to get it balanced at some point (if possible), but for now it's pretty much just for doing what it says in the title, track days.

Here are some other interesting classes I've made recently that fall outside of traditional motorsports groups.

I've created a V8 Silhouette class featuring three similarly laid-out racing cars with very comparable performance. Easy to get good races with these three using a bit of ballast.

V8 Sihl.png

Grassroots Cup is an interesting one. I'm currently using this as the first series you partake in for a custom campaign I'm creating using CM's user championships feature. Balance on this one is iffy at the moment as it's a hodgepodge of various beginner's series.

GR Cup.png

GT Cup is another hodgepodge of various single-make cars, but this time it's based on the class of the same name from the Pirelli World Challenge (plus a couple of others). The TT-RS is very slow and the SEAT Cupra GT is unrealistically fast, so I'm still tweaking some things. The Evora is here because it raced against 911 Cup cars in Grand-Am.

@Sylana82 Interesting that you've got a very similar group to me when it comes to Group C cars. I seem to lack the Nissan R91CP, while you seem to lack the Jaguar XJR-9. Also interesting is that you've labelled the 905 as the '93 model where I have it as the '92 model (it probably doesn't matter that much).

Now, a couple more unrelated classes just for fun:

Group A on my copy of AC currently only has three cars. I'd love to find some more if they're out there somewhere. The Starion tune is one of my earlier ones from a while ago. I should probably give it a little update soon.

Group A.png

On the other end of my Track Day spectrum from the lightweights class is the Hypercars class. I think the most fun car out of these is the Brabham. It's very fun to race this group at the new Zandvoort layout. I have a video of it over in that respective thread if anyone wants to watch it.

trackdayh.png

You might have noticed that the 599XX and Zonda R are absent from the previous group. That's because they've been transferred over to my 2000s GT1 class. They were there initially to pad the group, but have sort of become engrained into the foundation of it and affect the BoP as a result:

gt100.png

I know the RSS GT pack cars count as 2000s GT1 cars, but I keep them separate in their own class called "RSSGT"

Hi , someone know how to find folder in content manager to delete all tags in one time ?

Tags are kept in the UI.json file of every individual car, so you need to delete each car’s tags one by one if you want to do that, unfortunately. I got it done in a day or two but I had a lot of time on my hands, so if I were you, I’d just take it slow and do a little bit every day going down the list. Not sure how many cars you have but that of course will affect the time it takes to finish it.

Hey everyone, just here to show off my new theme. Yeah, that's pretty much it really. I really just gotta say that I love this new "spotter guide" theme my CM presets have.

What happens when you have a Porsche or two in pretty much every racing category and can't figure out where to put the 911 GT America by IER Simulations? I propose a new solution. Welcome to American GT, here the 911 slots in along with several other "undesirables" from American road racing along with some SCCA and ALMS cars that are all near GT3 specs. Most are grid filler with the Porsche being the obvious one you want to drive, but I actually found the Camaro and Viper to be pretty decent before. The CTS-V needs a lot of love because it's quite an old conversion.

American GT.png

When balanced, the cars above are actually pretty fun to battle with around tracks like Mid-Ohio and Road America. Can't wait to get back to racing these with my new system at the end of the month with improved graphics.

Meanwhile an update for Track Day Hypercars. The RTM Apollo IE was dropped because it's a horrible mod. In it's place sprouts two new mods in the forms of the Senna GTR from somewhere and the official Dallara Stradale. Hopefully the Dallara runs well with them. I'll find out soon enough hopefully. The Vulcan despite being RTM remains as grid filler.

TDH part 2.png

Meanwhile, the Zonda R and 599XX Evo remain absent from Track Day Hypercars. Since in terms of performance they're more like Track Day Supercars, they remain within the GT1/00 class from my previous post. However now the GT1/00 class has been merged with RSS GT, Legion's GT1 mod and a few of my own GT1 balancing tunes to become GT Group 1 Modern. The 90's GT1 cars remain with each other as GT Group 1 Classic instead.

(if you're wondering, yes that means GT2 > GT Group 2, GT3 > GT Group 3, GT4 > GT Group 4 etc. I just did that to be fancy)

GT group 1 modern.png

Here is a look into GT Group 1 Classic. It remains largely the same with the addition of the F50 and TS020 from Legion.

gt group 1 classic.png

Where would I put the original McLaren F1 GT-R you may ask? Well, the Historic GT Invitational class seeks to answer that question. Here, pre-1996 GT1 cars gather in a series similar to the BPR Global GT. This class could use a good Bugatti, Venturi, Jaguar or others to bolster it's ranks. For now, it remains a small series with a few JDM GT1 icons, the GTO LM race car from Gran Turismo, and the Viper from 1995.

gt historic.png

That's all for now. The rebuilding process is going very well and in some cases I'd say it's actually made some groupings of mine better as a result. The new theme is pretty awesome too as it sort of acts as a spotters-guide lookalike and a metaphor for starting fresh like I had to after my old computer crashed.

Hold on, I forgot a category.

So you've got an Audi TT cup and have no idea what to do with it. It's too slow for the TCR category and GT4, so where to put it besides One Make? I have the solution in a class called Touring Group 2. Here, this category accepts one-make FWD cup cars with 3.5 - 4 kg/hp. The Mini Cooper and Fiat Tipo from Racedepartment join the new RCZ Cup from Assettoland to form this junior category that slots below Touring Group 1, or TCR as you probably know it.

Hey guys, after getting my new laptop and finally finishing my AC setup, I've settled at 456 individual cars and almost 70 car classifications. I figured it would be much easier if I just listed them all off in one post giving a brief synopsis/criteria for each tag I use instead of those old screenshot/explanation posts I used to make.

Tags are kept in the UI.json file of every individual car, so you need to delete each car’s tags one by one if you want to do that, unfortunately.

Just want to say, you can delete many tags at once in content manager, IF they are shared by more than one car;
Selecting with CTRL/SHIFT the cars you want to untag will show the red bottom bar; there you will get the option to add or erase tags for several cars at once.
If the car has unique tags though, you still have to do it one by one but the avbove might still save you some time.
t1.PNG

Also, besides the usual GTs and LMPs, here´s one of my other collections. I should take the fusca and citroens out of there and get the abarths in though.
t2.PNG

Is it easy possible to add the same Tag to a car and a special skin to group some cars of a Series with the correct skin of the series?

I know you can create Selections manually within DRIVE Menü and also select the the skins manually.
Doing this by tag would be great.

Propably a dumb question and a bit offtopic but how do you display your cars like this? I mean, as images and not a list. I was looking for this option and couldn't find it. As for tagging cars, I have some work to do there, it's amazing how much you can personalize this game.

That was a lot to type, but I hope that gives a good look into all of the sorting I've done thus far.

for the street classes, do you have a HP range per class?

Personally I divide street classes by lap times and power to weight ratio. I suppose you could do it like GT Sport with N100-1000, but the classes will be quite unbalanced like they are in that game so BoP will have to be quite heavy.

so i have an issue with my tags, i went through them (i will use the street cars for example) and some of them are showing the wrong class. for example the Toyota Sera TRD, has the Class F tag but if i choose Class C tag it shows up

Content Manager doesn't have a very good detection system when it comes to tags like the base Assetto Corsa. What I do to avoid that is put a "-" in-between the discipline and tier, so for my street classes I have Class-A, Class-B, Class-C etc. to avoid cars with different tags appearing where they aren't supposed to.

i will try that, guess i will do a couple of cars i know are in the wrong class to see if that works before i go after the 200+ cars

Haven't done it yet, but I was thinking of doing it the same way Gran Turismo does. First I would eliminate all original tags, then I would add a general one related to power; (N100 until N whatever, although I would also have R tags for racing cars). Then I am thinking of adding one for drivetrain type, and another one that matches the year of production. Afterwards I am thinking of just adding something more descriptive, like trackday special, cup cars and so on, the problem with that is threading the fine line between creating balanced classes without changing car characteristics and being so precise that everything turns into a one-make race... organising is hard :)

i did this base on the Forza Horizon 1 class system, i did add a G class and got rid of the R class and added S1 & 2 along with H1 & H2 (hypercars)

all of these classes are based on HP unlike FH1 which is done by PI.

G 0 - 99

F 100-200

E 201-275

D 276-350

C 351-425

B 426-500

A 501-600

S2 601-700

S1 701-800

H2 801-875

H1 876-998

i might add another class and change the H1 to 876-970 and make a new one for the cars that are 971 to over 1000hp+

Me I did the group like Gran Turismo, renaming by year, country and street or race.

It's quite useful to make a year specific championship.

but @cool3865: your sorting isveryclever too!

Beginners Cup! A setup of 6 equal cheap and ready to race cars. It can be used as a touring car category or rally cars. Hope you like them!
