Just curious to see who's staying off the AI idiots and who doesn't care.

I try to be as clean as possible and not "cheat" but damn these pinheads need to learn to drive (like we all didn't already know that) sometimes there is just nothing you can do to keep these a-holes from stopping right in front of you, pushing you offline, and swerving side to side like delirious crack addicts.

So what's your vote? AI clean or Dirty?

I find it annoying that for example the top gear related events they can knock you etc but if you tap them your disqualified (like wait a minute that blue one spun me around!)

I drive dirty on "smaller tracks" but cleanish normally unless I just start a race and drive the wrong way to smash into them for Poohs and laughter.

I practise to drive clean by treating them as traffic. Sometimes if they're evenly matched with me, and become aggressive or try to shove me around (and my AI do) I give - but only as good as I get.
In the end - how you race with the AI is a reflection of how well you race anyway. JMHO.

I agree but this thought came to mind while doing the current seasonal at Madrid. Its so damn tight it just seems that you can't escape unscathed and win.

As much as I tried to get a completely clean run I'd still end up with a damn black mark on the car watching the replay.

It is however the moves these "guys" pull that would NEVER fly in a real race :-(

Of course I race dirty vs the A.I! What are they going to do, suspend and fine me?

I always race clean, I don't like dirty driving at all. I find it much more enjoyable when I have a clean race.

Where's the Poll?

I have a strict no contact rule with the AI. It's easy to follow as long as you restrict yourself to making passes in proper passing places.

Small tracks i get dirty, Medium tracks i tend to get a wee bit dirty, and on Large tracks i race clean unless they brake check me or force me into the grass.

Dirty.
why bother.
Don't race them anymore. Only raced them when I started the game and had too.

When I race them I drive clean. When those corrupt *** get to start the seasonal events 30 seconds before me it's not racing anymore, it's revenge and a fight for justice and if they're stupid enough to stand in my way they have only themselves to blaim.

Driving the 9 hour seasonal, it's remarkable how many AI drivers, despite being lapped dozens of times, "fight" for position on the track. Worse than that, they still prop mid-apex.

After finishing this endurance race, I went to the seasonal 650pp races. Same deal: hogging the driving line, finding copious "sudden speed" as you attempt to pass, and generally acting unlike a human driver would or ever could.

While I try to drive cleanly against the AI, I resent no-one for bashing them out of the way. It seems as though that's the way PD made the game, and that's what the players have to deal with.

I try to drive as clean as I can, they brake early and go slow so its not too hard to out brake or out manouver them. However, they follow the racing line like its a bible. If you're on that line and they're not then they will bash you, then I get dirty.

Normally clean but I will use them to brace against on the expert seasonals to gain a higher entry speed at corners!!:D

Generally clean, but once they cut my lines off, you're going in the grass, stupid lawn mowers...

Ive made a habit of catching up to first A.I. car then "Road Hog" it till other cars catch up, seemingly making a race out of it. I get rather dirty with the A.I. doing this, putting 1 car off the course while allowing another car to take that position. Im particularly hard on the Default lead car, constantly harrassing him while other cars move up.

If they are in cars I hate I "Bring on the hurt" , if it's a car I like I will still bring on the hurt and feel guilty about it for a second or two before my evil villan laughter takes over!

If I want money quick, I'll play dirty. If I want a decent race, I'll race clean...well, somewhat clean thanks to their stupidity (can't be as bad as Forza's demo derby AI).

It depends on the race/situation for me.

As a rule I'll race them as clean as I possibly can with them intentionally driving a line the middle of the road and parking and attempting to drive through you and smashing you off the road and all. In A-Spec I'll usually at least try to pass them properly without taking advantage of the ease of triggering the parking.

But it often depends on the pace needed. If I actually need to drive a perfect race to catch the rabbit then I have to drive that perfect race, and if that means nudging them out of the way or triggering some parking then so be it. If the game let me adjust race lengths I could run a bit more relaxed and deal with them more fairly. But in for example the Lamborghini Nordschleife seasonal you just plain got to go, and if there's a gap you have to go for it and risk contact or a spin/crash. You just have no choice. I still always try to get through clean but I for sure do to things I wouldn't do in a longer, more even race.

In Arcade races where they drive better and I'm less concerned about "clearing the level" I pretty much always race them as cleanly as I can. Or if I happen to be doing an A-Spec race that is fairly easy I'll usually be more patient and clean as well.

I never actually intentionally crash into them for braking or to take a tighter line than I know I can, but if I need to get through and I realize that what's happening is going to result in some side-rubbing I'll often let it happen. Of course I do occasionally get mad at their tomfoolery and will take out some frustration on one particular offender. I'm sure that's never cost me a race I still had a chance at of course. :)

I do that too sometimes, it's a good challenge to try and bunch up the cars as much as you can, I slow way down and weave then if anyone tries to pass I cut them off. When actually racing the AI though I ususally race pretty clean on fast tracks and dirty on small tracks, they are always in the way on smaller tracks so I move them.

They do fight for position once you are past them, and if they don't seem to realize that you're going through. But they do try to let you lap them. Unfortunately they don't do it right. They swerve all over to not be in front of you instead of just holding their line. This means they constantly swerve right in front of you in an attempt to get out of the way of where they think you're going to go. It also means they constantly "give" you the line around the outside of a tight corner, meaning they are effectively taking a defensive line.

A lot of these behaviors changed in the patch when they added the parking AI, which I believe was meant to be something they only do when they are being lapped. It's all very strange and annoying and while it has made it easier for the AI rabbit to get by the backmarkers, it actually made it a lot harder to lap them for the player, because they basically do everything you're not supposed to do when being lapped. And then they try to pass you back once they get behind you and you've lost all your momentum dealing with the stupid way they "let" you by - especially a problem when they have a lot more straight-line speed than you.

You just have to learn how they are likely to act and then guess whether they are going to randomly decide to give you the inside line or the outside line. The outside is usually safer but you have to recognize where they are driving vs their normal line so you can switch to the other side if you see they are giving you a different path through than the one that seems most obvious to you.

I always try to race clean as much as possible.
I do so at all the seasonals, a-spec events and licenses as a form of training.

I actually had a great race with the A.I I was a spoon s2000 (road car) & a amuse s2000 R1 was giving me a great race. Getting to the thread subject, I mostly drive clean with the A.I but sometimes there is some rubbing & maybe a little crashing on important races if I need to win.

95% of the time I'll do my best to not make any contact and keep 2 wheels on track. In order to make GT5 worth playing offline, I've had to challenge myself with those parameters. Time Trials with moving chicanes is all Aspec or seasonals are anyway. The AI's behavior to me is the absolute worst aspect of GT5.
