How do you use nitrous?

1.The flames coming out of the exhaust is afterfire. Backfire would be through the intake manifold.
2.NOS is a brand name. The name is not licensed by PD/Sony, so you're just using nitrous not NOS or nawzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Isnt it written in GT4 as NOS? I dont know because I dont have it yet.

GT4(ever)
Hmm, now we're talking about NOS: you do see backfire, isn't it? Well, my question is probably stupid, but how do you get backfire when not using NOS? I tried it several times in Prologue, but it never worked. I always race w/ Manual Transmission. Thanks in advance.

When nitrous oxide is heated to a sufficient temperature (easily attained in an engine), the nitrous oxide molecule separates into nitrogen and oxygen ... Remember, NOS is not a fuel ... it's kind of like a forced induction (turbo) system at the push of a button ... You get more air into the cylinders, which allows you to add more fuel and, as a result, you can make more power ...

The reason why you might see flames coming from the exhaust while using nitrous is because they're using a very high octane fuel (doesn't burn as easily) and a very rich fuel-to-air mixture, so there's unburnt fuel in the exhaust ... As the extremely hot unburnt fuel meets with oxygen from the atmosphere, it combusts and, thus, you see flames ...

It's not because flaming nitrous oxide is being shot down the exhaust ;)

and for those of you who use the piece of s**t Mad Cats steering wheel, it's the right butterfly that activates the NOS/Nitrous/Nitro/NO2/..aka "Laughing Gas" <--under Nitrous effect!!
Nitrous Oxide: Don't race without it!!👍

Ok that explains it, I thought I saw a pic calling it NOS awhile ago.

yup you did. i it was deffinatly in a few pics, but i dont remember if its in the japanese version. but i dont see it in the US version for some reason...

it depends on the car, and it represents the amount of nitrous injected each (whatever period of time) you're holding the button down. it does not translate to hp gain.

n2o kills tires on most cars that need that extra power its not really cool when you work these problems out because its so much math it drives you F@#%ing crazy man

thats called blowby right?

Thanks for the answer...i can't wait to build an 1000+hp Supra and really set it off with some nitrous on the drag strip to get the turbo spooling! :sly: I hope you can buy drag slick´s or drag radials to put all that power to the ground! :ill:

It only kills your tires if you use it in curves or on lower gears. I only use my nitrous above 4th gear on most cars, 3rd on some. I get no wheel spin and no extra tire wear. I might get a little bit more tire wear when I get to the next corner and ust bake harder due to higher speed than without nitrous, but that's it.
