How does ASR work?

ASM is an advanced system that gives you as much grip as it can and prevents your tires from spinning - like TCS or also an LSD (as mentioned earlier).

I also remember reading, not sure if this was in the manual or in the game, that when the ASM kicks in (you see in flash on your HUD when you push the car) the cars brakes are being applied at enough force to help you maintain your line. If you turn your ABS off, ASM will also be deactivated so I'm pretty sure brakes play an important role in how ASM works.

As for all the people putting people down for using aids: calm down, it's only a game.
I used to use aids - everything off apart from ASM and ABS, maybe TCS for the Formula GT's. I still play with a DS3 and at that time I was learning. There's no point in discouraging others to share experiences.
Now with no aids (sometimes ABS on if I'm lazy) I can drive so much faster and am a more responsive and skilled driver.
No-one should mock as everyone has been in that position before and as a community we should be encouraging.

I hold my hands up to using ABS still, purely for the fact that I don't have a wheel anymore. If I do get one again (I'm sure I will) I will turn off the aid, and just get better. I do find it very tricky to have TCS off in the high powered cars, but as I get more experience with the cars, I will eventually have all aids off as I've gotten to a stage where I have the skills to do so. There's only one thing I frown upon in racing online, and that's people who hit you off the track on purpose.
