- Whats this?
There are 4 tracks where the "Time-of-Day" changes during races.
Circuit de la Sarthe 2009 - Time / Weather
Nürburgring Nordschleife - Time
Nürburgring 24h - Time / Weather
Toscana - Time
But how does it work?
As seen in some early videos the "time" transitions from "daytime" to "nighttime" within 9 minutes which is not "Realtime". It seems to be "accelerated" at least in "arcade races".
Also the races we've seen always start by "daytime" and end at "nighttime".
The questions are:
1. Is the speed of "Time-Transitions" adjustable (within "accelerated" to "Realtime") or does it always depend on "race-length" ?
2. Can we set the "Time of Day" prior to the race so we can choose to begin a race i.e. "in the morning" / "in the night" or is it mandatory to start "by daytime" ?
IF THESE QUESTIONS WILL BE ANSWERED IT WILL BE POSTED HERE:
I'll receive my copy tomorrow and that's the first thing I'll investigate.
Alright, here we go: I've got my hands on this game this morning and try to bring some light to this...
23.11.2010 - 15.00 hrs
At the moment the only (time) track I can enter is "Le Mans 2009 / time- weather" because I've just started the game and didn't unlock other (time)-tracks.
I can do races and also time-trials on this track. Both in "arcade" as well as in "practice" mode.
Time-trials in both (arccade and practice modes) was what I did to investigate this "time-feature-thingy" so we can assume that it's nothing to do with the "race-length/number of laps I've choosen prior to the start.
The runs always start by daytime and after about 8 minutes it is getting dark.
The dusk transitions into night within a further 2 minutes. Then after another 10 minutes of darkness the "time-of-day" (the night) transitions into dawn again and after that it's "daytime" again.
One of these cycles take about 27 minutes (from daytime - into nighttime - into daytime).
(The weather also changes in an accelerated speed from rain to sunny and so on, btw (remember it's also a weather track).
As of yet there is no way to enter the track to a specified "time-of-day".
As of yet there is no way to select the "time-of-day-transitions speed".
(Nor is there an option for the "weather-changing-speed")
24.11.2010 - 12.00 hrs
Yesterday evening I entered the online lobby and created an online race. And what did I see in the options ?
Settings for "Time-of-day" (for race start) AND "time-acceleration" slider (with a range from "1" up to "60").
(The "time-acceleration" setting seems to affect both, weather changes as well as the "time-of-day", btw)
So, there are these IMPORTANT settings for creating an online race but why are they absent in "single-player/offline" mode ?
I will keep you all informed as soon as I dig deeper into the game and maybe "unlock" or "find" (by a release date update perhaps) something new.
