JPM hit over 370kph in testing at Monza this year, breaking the record Pizzonia got in qualifying in 2004 (370.1 kph).

the saubers run ferrari power so they arent that slow in a straight line... kimi hit 230 at monza in the 05 race.

Well from formula1.com, at Monza 05 this season.

"Fastest Lap: Kimi Räikkönen 1:21.504"

I'm pretty sure I remember him hitting 375-378km/h on the main straight, or something along those lines. That's around 230mph.

On second though, I think it might've been around 370-371km/h, but I'm sure it was 37x. So 228-233mph, somewhere around there. That's damn fast IMO. Must be a hella race to watch from the actual stands.

230mph is 370kph – and Kimi definatly didn’t break the record at Monza. JPM did it during testing for Monza this year and it wasn’t by that much.

EDIT: Hmmm, I’ve found an article saying the speed record Montoya got in testing (367kph), but it is less than what Pizzonia got in 2004 (according to one of their other articles) … damn contradictory articles!

:grumpy:

Its still very fast!!! especially for a road track and not an oval!

:( so sad...hockeheim was another track where the speeds where high.....:( to bad they killed the track by making it shorter...:(

I loved that track too. What were the top speeds reached on it? Was the chicane in the forest always there? It would have been a fantastic straight if it wasn't.

Here's the way the track was in 1966....

1966? …they were still using the old Nurburgring back then. Do you know if the chicane-less Hockenheim ever used for F1?

that was a year of the f1 championship...i think it was used.

rather fast for the day. to bad they cant still run there... then again "fatal accidnet" is something no one really wants to see.

yea.....when it comes down to it, i rather see them race in a safe way rather than in a way where they will die...not that the Current F1 racers are 100% safe, but safter than they were back in the day. Still what a great track it must have been to see the cars race at, did F1 ever race at the "chicaneless" Hockehneim????

I don't believe the chicane-less version was ever used for F1 then..
