Ive been playing with my controller for awhile and just got my g25 set up yesterday. Used the triangle button to activate the clutch each race, and Ive been using that to drive. First few races I was terrible but after a couple hours I am within 2-3 seconds of my controller times. Hopefully Ill be able to beat my controller times eventually, but after only one night, I think thats progress.

What are you better with (controller or wheel) and by how much?

I cannot play with a controller at all any more. I bought a Logitech Driving Force EX a couple of years ago and now its all I can use for driving games of any kind. My times with a controller are so bad, there's no point in even comparing them with my wheel times, which aren't bad I supppose.

What I wouldn't give for a G25 though. The missus won't let me have one.... yet. ;)

Sneak the G25 wheel into the house like its a bad addiction. And when she starts to yell break down and cry. Start shaking and curl up in the fetal position and rock back and forth on your knees. She might have some sympathy then.

I've had my G25 a couple of weeks now. I tried the sixaxis the other day, just out of curiosity and I couldn't manage to keep it on the track a lap of suzuka in an EvoX. I used to be able to fling the ford GT around there but those days would seem to have passed.

Alternatively just say "bitch, I'm getting a G25. Now go wash some dishes or something"

Never tried this approach myself but I hear it's quite effective :trouble:

 @ djs87 - She'd up my dose if I did that, I'm sure.

I fear that this approach may lead to the testing of the PS3's submarine capabilities with the aforementioned dishes. Or something much worse...

While we're on the subject, have any of you owned a DForce EX and can compare it to a G25?

I would say that I am considerably better with a wheel, I really am hopeless with a controller.

I've had the Microsoft FF wheel, a MOMO racing wheel, a DFP and now the G25. I can say right away that the G25 is miles and miles better than any other wheel I've had and tried. The shifter and clutch is a bonus, as is the firm brake and solid feel. Just get one.

I really don't know. I haven't even tried a controller since I got the g25. If my wheel broke I wouldn't even play racing games again until I got a new one. I would even rather use the m$ wheel if I had to. It does seem like I am better at gt5p than I was all of the previous versions. Maybe that is do to the wheel, or maybe it's because the wheel makes it so much more enjoyable that I don't notice how bad I suck as much.

Are you kidding? Your wife won't LET you? Why should you have to ask permission to buy something that makes you happy, is she really that controlling? and if she is. . . wow. From your post i gather that you are an adult capable of making adult decisions and it blows my mind that you allow yourself to be told what you can't do. i smell kitty...

I agree with you. Your wife shouldn't stop you from getting things that you enjoy. But I bet that your not married, because most of the time that's what wives do best. You still gotta love them though because divorce is expensive. After that you wouldn't be able to afford anything, let alone a 250$ video game controller.

I just recently bought the DFGT, which is a fantastic wheel for the price. I haven't had a chance to use it a ton yet, so I haven't compared to my controller times.

However, I find it realllly difficult to control medium to high powered RWD cars. With a controller, they're actually easier for me to control. Front wheel and medium powered 4wd cars are a blast with the wheel.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to control a RWD car?? I can't even drive a BMW 135i without having some decent trouble trying to correct it if it gets sideways AT ALL.

Other than that, I love the wheel though.

One thing I have noticed in rear wheel drive cars with the wheel is, don't let all the way of the throttle when going thru a corner. I had a lot of trouble with that at first. Every time I would get in the ford gt, I would end up sidewise in the middle of my turns. Someone in this forum mentioned this little tidbit of info to me, so now I offer it to you.

Wheel + cockpit view + pro physics = plenty of top 10 time-trial times and online race wins for me. :)

I recently switched from pad to wheel...Ive been playing on pad since GT...the first wasnt numbered. I recently got a g25 and a game racer seat. My wife is happy cause i no longer ask constant questions about who is sleeping with who when her soap operas are on. Am i better...yes!....but i mainly drive flappy paddle shift with no clutch.

G25 + H pattern = Happy wayne.. :) ..

With figures.. on average a good 2 - 3 seconds per lap quicker with the Wheel.

I am much better with the wheel than with anything else. As far as using the clutch + H shifter versus using the semi-auto mode, I think I'm faster with the clutch + H shifter. In semi-auto mode I use the left foot to brake and I still can't match the times I get with the C+HS. Shifting quickly really does add up over a long lap.

Just keep at it and you'll start seeing the benefits soon enough. You can also try mounting the pedals on a plank of wood to adjust the distance between them to your liking. I, for example, moved the brake pedal about an inch in front of the throttle pedal to make heel-and-toe easier.

Give the man a break =/ When people get married, financial decisions are made by both people, not just one. If there are home improvement things and expenses that need to get paid for, then the wheel? Prob not a good idea at this pt in time. However...if none of that applies? Ask her if she would rather have forehand or backhand. Then head on over to logitechs website.

What a bunch of wimps. I an old man that gets the last word in at my house. Usually it is, "Yes Dear." Then to make up, it's a trip to the flower store and a half hour of whimpering.

I am using the Driving Force GT. Great because you can actually turn some driving characteristics on and off, or adjust them while driving, such as TSC, ASM, BRake bias front and rear, and front/rear torque. Handy sometimes after you've changed venues and forgot to tune the car for the track/venue.

The G25 is a wicked feeling wheel in PC sims and I use the it almost exclusively in GT5. It is my opinion however, that the Driving Force Pro has better feedback in both GT4 and GT5.

I can usually get faster laps with the DFP but I hardly have access to it as someone is always borrowing it for months at a time.

I am curious to try the new DFGT wheel, but I am not going to pay full price to try one.

Alright thanks, I'll definitely give that a shot and see if it helps . I wish I could drive a RWD car in real life and compare it....but I've only owned FWD cars....but I do love my SRT-4...

Thanks for passing on the tip Bevo...

I'll try this advice, it'll be fun to see how that goes with right-foot braking into the corner.

I'm pretty poor in a RWD car at the moment, but with a 4WD, I am getting pretty close to the fastest time I could possibly hope to get with a sixaxis. My only complaint about using the DFP is that it doesn't 'right itself' as fast as a real life steering wheel does. I have to physically grip and tug it to get it to catch up, and that can cause problems of its own (during a race). Other than that, its great racing with a wheel. 👍

I just got my wheel last week. I've previously played all 4 GT's with a controller, so I was pretty good with it. The wheel took some getting used to, but within about a half hour to an hour things were going well. I had to turn up the turning angle to get slightly better response. My only complaints are that the feedback isn't as strong. Also, I haven't figured out how to recover a spin with the wheel. I think I'm over-correcting, so I've got to really work on that.

For me it took me about a wheel or 2 to beat my controller times. For me the wheel is much more natural then using the controller and I love the full 900 degree steering turn. Feels more like driving a real car rather then a RC car.

 You have a DFP yes? I think you need to alter the settings in the options menu, because I had to drastically alter the feedback down because my forearms and wrists were aching after as little as 20 minutes racing - I felt like Popeye with some dud spinach! :yuck:

In a EVO 9 at eiger, I am 3 and a half seconds faster with G25 (in H shift with clutch) than with my sixaxis. The car even feels different as it seems to stick better with the G25, the sixaxis makes it understeer too much.
