Earlier today I was watching an episode of Tekzilla and Robert Heron mentioned a test he had posted on G+ about said test. With that, I give you xrite.com's FM 100 Hue test.

I just scored an 11, which I'm quite pleased with, especially as I took the test on my wife's laptop and her screen sucks. Sorry for not providing a screen shot but my wife wanted to take the test (she received a 17) before she went to bed and I didn't get a chance to before she started. :irked:

Your turn(s).

Yikes, I'm done the first bar, I have a form of red-green colourblindness and this is a hell of a challenge. I'll edit when I'm done.

Ouch. I scored an 89. I expected that, my eyes started to get boggled by the colours, and I just couldn't tell them all apart. I thought I was doing OK but there's just no way for me to tell, the different shades are just far too close for my vision. I have 20/20 vision otherwise, but when it comes to colours I'm in trouble.

EDIT:

You can see here I started to run into major trouble at the blue/purple part of the spectrum. It's because my eyes have a deficiency in detecting red, so they can't pick up the red present in the blue to make purple. This is consistent with real life, because purple and blue are really tough colours for me to tell the difference between. For example, mom bought a Corolla in '03, and I always thought it was purple until I made a joke about me "driving a purple car" (I got my licence in September 2010), and mom looked at me dumbfounded and said the car is blue.
I think with another try in the morning or tomorrow afternoon, while there's some natural light and I'm not tired I could do a little better, but I'll still royally screw up the reds and purples.

Funny thing is, I'm the only one in my family not to wear glasses.

Nicely done but at 3:30 in the afternoon and on a (presumably) better than average screen, I'm not the least bit surprised. :)👍

I'm actually using some junk 19" LCD which is about 7 years old. The pinks are the hardest by far.

12, I still wonder if the brightness of the TV plays a role in this sort of thing.

I guess that is not bad but I'm not really sure.

Wow the last two really tricked me... I will redo the test on my other monitor to see if there is any difference tomorrow. Me eyes really hurt now.

I scored 30.

I messed p on the blue/ish greens. I think. I was at work until 12AM and got up early this morning, it's now 11:30P< where I am. I've always praised the screen on my iMac. I can't edit photos on anything else in my house.

I got a 7. Now I just need to try it on my desktop, this laptop isn't as bright as it should be for a test like this.

11...

I knew the green spectrum was wrong, but I gave up because I have other things to do :(

I think a trick to doing this more easily is to not stare at one bar too long or else everything starts to blur and look the same.

I had no problem with bars 1, 2 and 4. I did have to spend a little more time on bar 3, plus my eyes were really starting to strain before I submitted my results. Even though I've never had any problems with my colour vision, I'm still kind of surprised by the results.

That trick definitely works.

Will help further if you don't have any colourful clutter on your desk. If you stare at a colour range for too long your eyes will temporarily become more insensitive to them.

29? Is that good or is that bad? Hard to see anything on this dim little netbook monitor!

Was hoping for a 0, or as close to it as possible... but given that my color perception is different in both eyes (one sees slightly redder, the other slightly bluer...), I guess that's a vain hope.

Get some of those "classic" 3d glasses.

I got 23, I kind of expected that considering the vision in my right eye is slightly blurry.

I am almost 16, and my eyes are not as good as they used to be two years.

But, I'm not going to let this put me down. Being positive. :sly:

Get a new monitor.

There's problems doing this on an uncalibrated computer monitor, straining to see small squares on a screen that's too bright or too dark. It's best done with actual paper cut-outs.

When I visited the optometrist for the first time, he tested me with this...got perfect on it; much much easier doing on something that's not a screen.

My God... :scared:

218...

Really hope it's my monitor... but I doubt it... I wear glasses BTW... and without them I could easily get lost, or crash my car...

I got a bit impatient, and couldn't be bothered to turn the brightness up on my monitor - I leave it a bit dimmer in the evening.

Still, fairly happy with that given I had them adjacent to each other so it wasn't a large mistake. And I knew something was up with those ones.

And on the monitor bit, it will make a huge difference in some cases. I have mine all calibrated fairly well, and my main ones of E-IPS. Interestingly enough, the blues are easier to do on the TN panel; more contrast it seems. Yellows are better on the IPS though, at least for contrast and detail.

But the colors all look like crap on the TN panel regardless :p

I'm quite happy with a score of 15, especially since I'm doing it on a projector with a slightly off white coloured wall.

12! That's pretty good considering I've always thought of myself as having pretty dodgy eyes.

I got 67, however I'm surprised my laptop even is able to project the screen, let alone if the colours are actually good.

Got the same score as Cody's but the colour discrimination is in the greens (pretty good for using a crappy 8 year old CRT :p)

Ha ha... kind of expected that since I am 'colour blind'.
